AMS, use your Nerd powers to tell me if this is ok or not.

No, it's crap.
It has no motherboard, no RAID card and no hard drives. Basically means you have probably at least $1000 to spend on it before it's actually usable...and you have to do all the setup and everything yourself.

See not much of that makes much sense to me........... can I just throw HDD's in the second one and it will work?
There's no brains in the box to deal with the hard drives, so no. It's basically a small PC case that has no bits inside it to make anything work...so no, you can't just throw hd's at it.

The IX4-200D. They make a 4, 8 and 12tb version of it. Comes with all the bits you need, all pre-configured and full of hard drives and does all the RAID, the only thing you need to do is plug a network cable in.

How much be they?
Still looking around $1k for the 8Tb version.
Comes with 4 RAID5 disk's, so you can afford to lose 1 hard drive and still not suffer any lost data.

Why would I need a RAID card to mirror 2 x 2TB drives?
my MB supports RAID
Then you won't need one, 'innit??
Nik - I listened to you p00fs go on about your stupid share trading game even though you have a whole thread for it, i deserve some love.
