I've suggested they open a separate bank account with nil balance so nothing can be taken out if someone tries to.

Plus it can be closed as soon as the transaction is complete.

Theoretically speaking, someone COULD get money out of an account with BSB and ACC number.

But they'd have to risk going into a branch, being seen by 30 cameras, provide a fake drivers license that has a signature on it the same as the one the bank holds, fool the teller into believing that they in fact, are the account holder, and provide proof of residence to the bank that matches the banks systems. Then risk being seen by the same 30 cameras walking out. And even if that happened, you'd get the money refunded and the teller would get the punt from the bank for not complying with processes.

Seriously, open an account with a nil balance, and give them that if he is that worried.

I have my account details on my SUYT invoices so people can direct deposit, and I haven't been scammed yet.
