it was inevitable that the Subaru would f**k up at some stage,

Casually this afternoon it went from showing 3/4 tank to FULL tank.. turned it on and off, and still the same, and NO I didn't top it up.

anyway of kicking the sender unit without removing it?, or is there something I can try for a hard reset?

I think it may be common as my mate on his 05 rex has been suffering fuel gauge issues too.

Shut up!!!!!!!!
you've found the endless tank.
As Tony Montana would say:
In this country, you gotta make the money first.
Then when you get the money, you get the power.
Then when you get the power, then you get the women.

If only this wasn't a bad thing...

I have no idea how to fix it, our 4x4 would do this, but it was just a loose wire, it would show empty though. My Honda would show fuel based on how hard you took the last bend, almost like a G meter yo!

Pull the intank pump out (Its like 6 screws) and make sure the float isn't jammed up high.

here is the best bit..

as I was driving to work this morning the needle is dropping down to almost where it should be, for every 2km's I drive it's taking about 10k's off the gauge. This thing has dead set tripped it.

I'll let it run itself to where it needs to be and see what happens before I remove the pump. If I remove the pump it will be replaced with a rag and a lighter instead.

the thing is, it started dropping the fuel level at a dramatic rate as I was driving, if it was jammed and then unjammed shouldn't it have just come back to the level where it's meant to be?

I'm gonna pull the pump out this weekend and kick it around a little,

I called up Subaru cause no one makes after market senders, and the tank has 2!!!! not 1 but 2 sender units!!! WHY???????!!!!!!!!!

1 off the pump is $100.00 and the second one at the back of the tank is $265!

Could be that it needs to be recalibrated.

Some VY commo's do that. Not a big deal.
