Y U NO TELL ME BEFORE I DO MOD?!
I don't recall you asking. Sorry, we must have missed it.
As for 'above the steering wheel', in WA it's actually 'above the dash line'.

No.Walts, did you follow a DIY or something to get your boost gauge in the AC vent or play it by ear?
I remember you saying somewhere that the vent still works. Gauge doesn't get too hot or cold with the air coming from behind it?
I think I'm going to have to do the same seeing as though this A pillar thing is illegal.
Y U NO TELL ME BEFORE I DO MOD?!
Did it by myself. Took me a few days to get perfect.
Drilled 1 hole to fit all the cables through.
Unscrewed the vent grill thing so it can be put back in easily if I decided to remove it.
The valve that blocks off the vent and opens it still works perfectly. Normally have it about half open.
No matter how hot you run the A/C or how cold it doesn't effect the gauge in anyway. It's made to handle harsher conditions than that.

Yeah same as ours. Cops always look out for hoons with gauges above the dash.As for 'above the steering wheel', in WA it's actually 'above the dash line'.

I got pulled over and the cop pointed and my gauge and said "That looks really nice there, you did a good job" hahahah

Could be the same here, I can't remember.. I just remember that having it on the A-pillar is a defect.

How is it secured inside the vent? I'm guessing you haven't screwed into the vent floor?

I wouldn't have said he was acting. Probably hamming it up a bit like yanks do, but I think he would have genuinely been a bit on edge. Like he said after , the tv doesn't do the track justice, and it isn't the first time I've seen seasoned racers from around the world get scared shitless as a passenger on a hot lap around the mountain. Pretty sure Jenson Button said similar things after his first hotlap.Haha@theboganfrontlawn
Nice SVX doeee.
Waltrip is clearly acting.... he is a NASCAR legend, not afraid of speed.
It truly is an amazing piece of Tarmac.

The gauge is actually still in the defi cup. Just mounted with black double sided tape on the side of the vent. The only way it would fit.How is it secured inside the vent? I'm guessing you haven't screwed into the vent floor?
But it's pretty squashed in there anyway. It's not moving anywhere.
You can just see the two mounting points on the side in this photo:

Also I thought I should also pass on my thorough recommendation for Chemical Guys Glossworx wash soap. It's the best maintenance soap I've ever used bar none. Shits all over Swissvax car bath and is a fraction of the price. There is actually something in it that puts a wax like layer on your car to keep it beeding. I know this because apart from our forester looking amazing after a simple wash yesterday, the grass around where the car was washed has a deeper green colour to it suggesting there is some kind of coating on it. Next time you need a maintenance car wash definitely consider it. At $9.95 for 470mL it isn't expensive.
