Only when I put in new springs and didn't quite do up the top of the strutt tight enough. Leaving about 1mm play, and quite a disturbing thud on every bump. Turned around immediately, pulled the car apart again and fixed it. Just pushing the car up and down (was one of my rear ones), was enough to make the noise. Other than that no idea.

I mean the bolt that holds the rod from the shock absorber to the mount... if that makes sense. Not the ones that attach to the chassis. But check them too I guess. You may even have a dead shock? Sisters Pulsar was clunky when it was pretty much on springs lol.

Old thread I know..... But did you end up working out the clunk noise?

I have a similar noise in the rear (02 B4 Lib).

When I've had it in for services, one mechanic told me sway bar bushes are worn, another mechanic told me everything is fine back there... the one day the car didn't make the noise!

Will have to start exploring.

Hey, pretty much on any bump on the road. It's like an echo clunk bonk.

Edit: Also occasionally when getting in or out of the car. Not all the time though.

rooted shocks

Have you put any more thought into squeezing some more power out of the engine. Like strapping on one of those intake fans

Was thinking along that line. Even though the mechanic did a 'safety check' and all suspension looks in good condition..

Do one of those Pedders ones where they bounce your car around haha

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.
