If you are going LPG I would go vapour injection. The fuel is controlled via a ecu so the correct tune for any engine condition is tuneable via a laptop/dyno.
This would work well with a turbo also. A bloke at work has an after market turbo (TMIC) with vapour on his Patrol and it absolutely flies.
The cost would far out weigh the savings as I doubt this would be a daily drive. The other issue is the tank, where the hell could you put it in a Mini?
A decent size would leave no useable boot or you would have a tank that would need refilling every other day.
I would build a petrol engine to run on 98RON. You could crank up the compression ratio a bit to liven it up and still buy fuel anywhere.
So what if it's $1.99/lit....IT'S A

Planning for it to be a daily which is why I'm getting other ideas about alternate fuels.
From what I've read liquid injection is an improved form of vapor injection.
Gas tank would be a doughnut tank, taking up probably the whole boot once the spare is in!
My plan is to just get it running on carby and 98 to begin with and see where things pan out from there!
Also, as far as cost effectiveness, I've worked out I would pay 3k off a year from fuel savings

Maybe I need to live closer to work

You currently drive a late model car right? With comfy seats, good brakes, reliable(made in japan remember), quiet, powerful, safe, good road holding and lots of luxury bit and pieces that are the norm in a modern car?
Mini as a daily.
I'll give you a week.
