Sigh.
I don't think I take my sheets as seriously as you do. I have the winning advantage of washing all my stuff in pure rain water though.

Thanks mate!sorry Matt I bailed after my last post.
I use the grey one. Its a bit of an allrounder. Im pretty sure the blue one is a fine grade one, so it doesnt "grab" quite as much crap off the paint.
Was thinkin the medium grade would be the best, so whats the difference between the clay bars and the clay block? Is it just no need to knead the clay block or something? Says it can be used on glass too...is that to remove hard water marks etc??
I hate the hard water marks on the glass so would love to get rid of them if possible

I would spend the hard earned on getting the flu sorted, I just went through a revamp of all the fireplaces here (7) and after much deliberation we opted to replace the flu kits as they were never installed very well. The improvement has been HUGE, they are gas so you notice immediately that the soot over effect has been rectified.
Sorry dude, what does that all mean? There is the chimney that goes through the roof to the outside, and the flu sits up in that and is what you see inside going up to the ceiling?

You'll find replacement flu sections are quite cheap, and being non gas you could do it (legally) yourself. If it has been installed for a long time, it possibly isn't a double skinned style flu system which will give better efficiency, and also be a bit more child friendly as they run a fair bit cooler.
Another thing that is worth looking at is the top hat on the flu (this will be what you can see protruding from your ruff), those have come along a little way as well in terms of design (shit is still cheap as chips though, you're talkin $24 for a top hat)
Don't know how much you feel the cold, but from the photos you've shown us it looks like a house that really feels the temperature?

Don't even know how the fire place performs at the moment.
I was more lookig at the aesthetics for now.
And yes I feel the cold and the house does seem to get cold at night. I sleep with dooner and blanket an sheet in summer normally anyway
