I love the city.

Such a buzz about it.

Old man's retirement plan is to buy an apartment in the city with harbour views. Epic NYE's will be epic.

Most people want to go to the country to retire. Dad's doing the opposite :)

Eat, drink and shop.

Go to Sandown Raceway and watch historical race cars go door to door? See some Formula 5000 cars being worked on in the pit sheds? Get shown around by our resident chrome bumper technician?

Eat, drink and shop.

Hit the train lines up for my fill of one of the best free art galleries in the world?

Eat, drink and shop.

Go to the Melbourne Cup? Oaks Day?

Eat, drink and shop.

Such a buzz about it.

That buzz is the residual ringing in your ear due to being close to an exploding hand grenade at the site of a shootingstabbingbashingwarzone :P

Eat, drink and shop.

Find a useless taxi driver and take an expensive ride to Sandown Raceway and watch historical race cars go door to door? See some Formula 5000 cars being worked on in the pit sheds? Get shown around by our resident chrome bumper technician?

Eat, drink and shop.

Hit the train lines up for my fill of one of the best free art galleries in the world?

Jase..... you are assuming you can find a taxi driver... Melbourne has by far the worst taxi service I have ever experienced.

Most of the people in our Melbourne office I was speaking to said that it is often not worth bothering with taxi's.. you can call 13 cabs and wait the "45 mins" only to not ever have one arrive or arrive 2 hours later.

Haha Jase, cabs are much cheaper in Melbourne compared to Sydney. I remember when I was there in September, I kept pulling out more money than was necessary at the end of the journey whereas in Sydney, its the opposite.

Yeah I know.

The taxi issue has been featuring in the news of late.

A good mate of mind who travels a lot with work just uses the VHA cars instead of Taxis. No wasted time and in some cases cheaper.

This is true, I distinctly remember spending almost 60-minutes looking for a cab one day with my mates in the heart of the CBD.

However regardless of whether its Sydney or Melbourne - both cities have crap cab drivers. Its like they're programmed to be the worst drivers on the road.

^^ Shiv is right haha, but our ability to get one is substantially better at the moment. Shame half of them have never driven a car before and drive by feel.

Those wondering to what Jase is referring;

I got into a taxi and he told me Sandown Raceway was four hours away, then I called Jase and he gave me pretty basic instructions to get onto what was later revealed to be a fairly major Posted Image'ing road, and the guy just drove around in circles - literally - I saw the same park for the third time and just lost it and got out at the lights. Unfortunately I'd now gotten JUST outside the CBD limits, so every taxi would not stop or was occupied, TWO stopped and then said it was too far away, another said he was on his way home and this would be out of his way - why he stopped at all is completely a mystery.

By the end of it I called the number on the side of the hundreds of taxis that were heading back into the city on the other side of the road - and they came faaaiiirrrlllyyy quickly, bout fifteen minutes.

When I arrived at Sandown, I was up for over $100 for the trip.

Don't really give a Posted Image though, because I had an awesome time with Jase, Ty and (shit I forgot his name, but he was a lad!!!)
