Doing a bit of maintenance. Everything checked out fine except for the front diff level, the stick above the transmission in the engine bay, mine being an auto.

When I first pulled it was on the L marker, when cleaned and put back in, barely on the dipstick. It was a clear substance, I am not real familiar with diff fluids. Car was cold by this point.

Also is there another location I should check the levels, I assume there is a rear one? How should I go about sorting it out?

the diff oil is almost clear/light yellow

on the rear just take out the top filler plug (the lower is the drain plug) on the back of the diff to check the fluid. when full the fluid will come up level with the filler plug.

Im assuming the car was on a level surface?

Your front diff needs a top up if so. Hot/cold doesnt matter, its not power steering fluid.

Diff fluid is a semi clear, yellowish fluid so on a dipstick will appear clear to some extent.

Eh... not really now that I think about it, the driveway is sloped. I might bring it into the garage tomorrow and check again.

Can I just top it up? What with?

You can top it up with other fluid as long as its not something like redline shockproof or royal purple. Apparently those oils do not play well with others.
Personally I'd drain it and use new oil.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.
