Changing Badge Colour?

Saw this by Mark;
I've seen it before. Just wondering how hard it is, and perhaps if there is a DIY that someone knows about?
I want to go black.
Cheers,
Nik

I was an impatient 18 year old not knowing what to do but I now know better!
-Take badge off
-Remove all sticky stuff from the back of the badge
-Remove existing blue paint. I'm not sure if you can use some sort of metho without also removing the silver stars?
-Re-paint in your colour of choice

Take off the badge and sand the old colour off with 800 or so wet & dry - the stars are chrome and you have to try really hard to damage them.
Clean it, wipe the back with wax & grease remover/prepsol and paint whatever colour you want.
Stick it back on and done.

In that link, I am slightly confused. It isn't necessary to remove the stars is it? I want to retain chrome stars, and paint the background black.
Thanks for the help.
Cheers, bobbyjimmy!

Do you think I could get a nice finish on the OUTBACK badge? I'm tempted to just remove that one.

Easy.
Take off the badge and sand the old colour off with 800 or so wet & dry - the stars are chrome and you have to try really hard to damage them.
Clean it, wipe the back with wax & grease remover/prepsol and paint whatever colour you want.
Stick it back on and done.
This is on the money.
I sanded the paint off with 400 grit. Doesnt matter about fine scratches as the paint will fill them leaving them unnoticeable. Once all the paint is off (the stars will remain perfectly intact) I cleaned the area with some turps, masked out the face of the badge entirely and then sprayed it with plastic primer as it dries clear and makes the paint adhere better. Paint and reattach when dry with some silicon/sikaflex, etc.

My name is Tom, I am new to this forum.
Is the coloured paint just painted onto the back of the badge like the Gen 2's?
I always thought the badge was where my pussymagnet is installed. I don't want to affect my cars ability to pull in the bitches.
