Any comments on this system as I am seriously looking to buy one as they are only USD$89 and upgrades are free, this includes the correct cable.

In this country, you gotta make the money first.
Then when you get the money, you get the power.
Then when you get the power, then you get the women.

yes i am new to this side of working on cars but i'm interested. if i can hack into my stock ej22 ecu and play around(properly) i can hopefully make it run leaner on part throttle applications and stuff like that and see whats happening across the revs and loads. I'll try and get this cable and then ask you guys for help with the software.
wouldn't i need a wideband o2 sensor for this kinda thing?
to tune the car properly you will need a wideband o2 sensor...

As far as I know (And I will gladly be corrected on this if I am wrong) the older style ECU's (JECS) which were replaced in MY00 models I think across the board (to OBD-II interface) are not able to be tuned. They can be monitored, via the OBD-I port - however not tuned. You will need a piggyback ECU to do tuning, or a replacement standalone unit.
Edit: OK, just seen that you have a Gen2 - so unfortunately no tuning options for you at the moment with your stocker ECU.
