I didnt realise that cameras could be placed in a car, and how would they work? You better to just have a motion sensored alarm!

Hi,

Get a dog.

Seriously - wasn't even aware security camera's IN cars were a thing.

I'd expect a security camera WATCHING a car (mounted somewhere around your house?) would be significantly easier/cheaper to install.

- Alex.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

Basic DVR connected to internal cameras powered off the battery. Doesn't have to be to expensive (for a security system) but I'm not sure who would be willing to install one in a car let alone do a proper job that wont destroy your interior.

You could do it yourself if you buy a kit, most of it is 12V based anyway. But if you put the DVR under one of the seats and run the wires under all your plastics you should be fine.

But this would be the easier/cheaper option.

Dogs meaning actual dogs or dog human beings? lol :)

Yea definately motion sensor that trips the camera to come on is pretty standard with carpark lot security..

A mate of mine works as an install guy for security cameras in all the westfields so ill ask him what he knows tonight.

Hi,

If you park your car in the same spot every night, definitely go for a house mounted camera.

Even just the sensor light will warn off most crims.

Cheers,
Nik

The problem is leaving your car in other locations. My car had $8,000 of damage done to it out the back of where I work, it was damaged on more than one occasion, and work did nothing about it. A few of us said we would pay to have cameras installed out the back of work where 90% of our staff park, but still they refused.

Google things like "car mounted security camera" or something to that extent. There is many options, but can be very costly. I have considered doing the same myself many times.

you can get some off ebay, they run on Lithium-ion batteries, and are a motion sensoreddesigned for car crashes, but might work for what you need

Hi Rosey,

I appreciate what you're saying, but if you look at the OP's issue it seems isolated to his residential address.

He done pissed off some people!

Hey all,

Before i start I am just going to say:
  • I know Aldi have a reputation for being a cheapo shop etc
  • I know What I am about to write up about a few people may laugh at because I would too if I hadn't worked there..
Anyhow!!

Aldi have on sale this Saturday a Car Black Box Recorder/Video camera..
http://aldi.com.au/a.../2827_21646.htm
  • HD 720 res
  • 2.4" screen which swivels 270 degrees
  • 120 degree wide angle lens
  • loop recording
  • sd card slot up to 32 gg
  • Motion detection
  • Rechargeable Battery
  • Night vision LED
  • 3 years warranty
From my experience working with Aldi i have seen a fair amount of shizza go through there.. But on occasion they do bring out some decent products. My Mum bought a laptop there 3 years ago and its still ticking with no dramas..

Another point to raise is the 3 year warranty included.. If i get 3 years use out of this thing for paying $99 i'm cheering!
The old philosophy of you get what you pay for may be true but i'm willing to risk $99.. All other cameras i've looked up online that will cost me $600+ don't even have the same features as this one.. They all have limited memory and battery life and don't offer warranty.
