A mate has sent me a few links including:
  • Process west
  • Ms engineering
  • MRT
Ive heard MRT are quite pricey for what work they do though.. Im looking to spend about $4K

I basically want ECU, maybe TMIC, Single Downpipe and tuning.. The base tuning on my model is apparently pretty balls.

cheers

Michael South (MSR) x11ty.

Other options are Autotech Engineering at Granville, or there's a place at Tuggerah at the old TM Autosports shop (3 Boswell Cl - apparently its called Tuff Tune Performance?), plus there's a place called RPM in West Gosford. I haven't used RPM or the one at Tuggerah, though.

Don't go near MRT. If you would like to read an essay, ask me why they're the dodgiest Subaru workshop in NSW (hint: I owned a car they used to work on a lot, and I spent +12months getting rid of dangerously dodgy modifications/work on it).

True, I'll stay well clear of them then! Ill give MSR a look in..

I need to beat my mates mum's Golf R, its had a stage 1 tune..
He didnt beat me by much but his whole family are gloating about it. Saying i talked up my car and then got smashed.. Very frustrating.
I'll have him after the upgrades for sure!!

Remapping/reflashing on your car should just be plugging a cable into a laptop, then plugging it into the port in your car, then adjusting the air:fuel mixtures on a dyno (as well as trimming throttle response and a bunch of other small parameters which will greatly help the drivability of your car). Golf Rs are easy to chop once you liberate some ponies, mate. My old boy has a modified Mk4 R32 and it used to get demolished by my old 2.0L RS Lib wagon. Even my Toyota flogs it and it's still running stock boost. :)

Be careful going to Michael, though. As Matt will attest, you WILL go in just planning on getting a reflash or exhaust and end up coming away with a new turbo, intercooler, intake, injectors, fuel pump... then you'll be back in 6months for forged pistons, stronger rods, head work and the like... It's a disease!! hahaa

Better to pour your money into your car than up your nose or in your veins...

Definitely true! I'd rather have an adrenaline high from a car than some forked up drug binge haha

I can see this happening for sure! I'll keep the exterior just looking like a wrx though so it looks rather sleepy compared to an STI deception of appearance is always fun!

what year model wrx do you have? if MY09 onwards you won't need a new turbo. VF52 is a great piece of kit. intercooler is something that can be upgraded later down the track to a Process west tmic or similar...
