Oil Cooler to replace TMIC.
FMIC to replace TMIC.

Win win.

That was my end goal when I did my conversion, but I really CBF any more :P

Why do you want to take the heater core out? Is it in the way on a gen 3? I know on a gen 2 you can get at everything you need just by pulling the blower out.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

It seems like all the wires loop behind the heater core on the half cut.. Ill post up some pics of my progress later on today.

First off i went about removing the Raidiator and the air con rad. Luckily there wasnt any gas in the lines so that wasnt to much trouble.. THen i really got stuck into getting the loom out from under the rad and most the engine bay.. I did end up flooding the garage with coolant as i hadnt fully drained all the coolant when i thought i had...

Good times..

Cheers,

Did you use Al for your loom Shaz, or did you end up doing it yourself?

Yeah, i ended up using Al. Wayyyyyyy too difficult to do myself, plus, it was a plug and play affair once i got it back.

You are going to have to send him your car loom, as well as the engine loom, so he can mate the two together.

Yup got the process down as far as i know Shaz.. Thats why iv borrowed a mates car for the next six weeks so i can take the Lib off the road..

You guys may be able to enlighten me of where the loom stops in the liberty ?? As in the cut it obvously stoped where the car was cut in half.. But am i going to have to cut any wires when removing the loom from the liberty ?

There's 3 sections. The first is the general interior and engine loom, which is the one that runs behind the dash, and goes through the firewall to most of the engine. The next runs inside the drivers side 1/4 panel, then underneath the radiator and up to the engine bay fuse box. This one runs the ancillaries like lighting, ABS, alternator and air con. It plugs into the first loom at the 'super multi joint' - you'll know it when you see it!
The final one is the rear loom, which plugs into the previous two at the base of the drivers side A pillar.

You'll need to send the first two mentioned looms from both cars up.

Do not cut anything!! Just unplug it all (except the super multi joint which you unbolt).

Cheers man.. I know exactly what you are talking about.. Iv got the front loom out as shown in the pictures and am battling with the one that loops through the dash and through the firewall.. I havent really seen the back of the car loom .. Well i havent seperated it from the dash loom...

Thanks again guys exactly what i needed to know.. Oh and iv been talking to Am auto and they are happy to go ahead and also to remove the HKS ECU and Valve control unit..

I also picked up this off Darko over the weekend.. Seemed like a good buy since my temp gauge in my current cluster dosent work..

I pulled that loom through the oversized grommet on the passenger side firewall, just to the left of the heater core, after I removed the motor. Made it so much easier.

Good luck man! You wont wanna do it again once you've done it once.

Yea iv got it to a point where 80% seems to be lose but it seems to loop behind the heater core through some plastic tunel.. Iv been trying to figure out a way of how to get it out..

Im looking forward to this even less on the liberty as i cant just break and cut plastic parts, Grommits etc that give me the shits like i have with the cut..

Hahahahaha, I don't envy your position. I think the loom was the hardest part of the conversion.

If you need any pics I've got my dash out at the moment, so happy to snap a shot of anything you need. It's for a gen 2, but by the sound the wiring positions etc are basically the same.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

Here's a shot of what my interior looked like at the end of day one. You can see the heater is removed to get access to the loom, all we had to do was pull the two hoses off at the firewall and gorilla-arm it out.

Cheers Xon..

iv emailed AM auto and asked if they could maybe attach a small one word lable onto each of the connectors when the looms finished stating where it goes..

I know that sounds really noob (which i am).. And i would of labled them as iv been un plugging but since its all getting chopped up i didnt think it would work..

Not sure if they will do it but it should help me allot.. And im assuming they know every connector off the top of their heads..

Man.. People who see the pics of our dash`s would think we crashed our cars in this process lol..

Vice.
