Wondering what it could be? Its coming from the same side of the engine as the oil leak. I will try and get a video latter.
I'm just wondering if its a major thing, because if its something big then i would be better off buying a reconditioned engine for it than just fixing the head gasket.

EDIT: To avoid a ban, I'll offer some advice. Get a video up, it's hard to diagnose strictly through RenScripture.
Get out of my thread.

Unplug the injectors one at a time and see if the noise changes. The lack of a power stroke on that cylinder will take to load off the big end for that cylinder.
If you can't unplug the injectors easily, pull a plug lead but fit an old plug to the lead and rest the plug on the engine so the plug can discharge the spark. This will prevent you from frying the ignition system.
I cant see how a big end can fail from being parked.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

same noise, give up.. noise gets better, your winning
also.. get a long screwdriver
put ear on handle, end of driver on different engine parts... listen to where its loudest..
back in the day i had a bad noise like that i freaked, i had just changed HG myself..
5000k and it was making really horrible knocking sounds... did that and found it was actually just a cam cap that was loose and hitting the valve cover...
3 hours of fiddly 'ing annoying bolts n removing valve covers with engine in car.. fix the problem - been fine since!
if it is big end then your not going to exactly make it worse unless you go revving its tits off cold start
