Something Ive been meaning to do for a while, upgrade my rear high mount brakelight to LED.

Plug in LED's in place of the oem bulbs dont cut it due to not enough light spread and it looks shit.

Custom FTW. :D

PCB (printed circuit board), 20 super bright red LEDS and a little electronic know how.

Im running them in 4 banks of 5 LED's in parrallel (5 LEDS left to fit, Jaycar ran out), each LED needs 2.1V for optimum output. 5 x 2.1 = 10.5V. Average car ouput when running is 13.8V. To take care of the extra 3.3V, a 110 Ohm resistor on the end of each bank is fitted in series so they run at optimum level and maximum life.

Theyre bright. :D

OEM 4 bulb setup...

New LED setup... (one bank left to solder in)

Mounted with test leads...

Clever trick Mark.

Is that a power board with a temp controlled soldering iron and regulated power supply?????

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Reckon you could put a wiring diagram up when you get time?

Tried to scope it out. But can't work it out :P

Looks good Mark!

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

I don't think that Mark would leave it quite unfinished like that, Shane :)

Yeh, Jaycar had no more LED's. I took their last 15. They'll have more in on Tuesday so I can finish it off then.

If you need www.ledsales.com.au is a good supplier.

Yep just in series. Led's total 10.5V(2.1V each)required for optimum output.

The 110 Ohm resistor drops the 3.3V that makes up 13.8V that a car runs at on average. A little higher or lower voltage wont be a problem.
