The Productivity Commission has warned solar PV is a very expensive technology, which has cost up to $1043 in subsidies for every tonne of CO2 that is abated and could hold back deeper cuts to emissions. This contrasts with the $23-a-tonne starting price for Labor's carbon tax.

The commission found that the national RET overlapped completely with the state-based feed-in tariffs last year as all power subsidised through the tariffs was also eligible for federal subsidies. The federal government has cut incentives for householders who install solar roof panels in a bid to take heat out of the solar panel market.

I'm not being a smart ass. I genuinely don't understand that.

Oh wait. I think i get it.

It costs +$1000 to avoid producing 1T carbon.

But it costs $23 to just pay for emitting carbon.

So it's cheaper for the government to emit carbon?

It has been a monumental Posted Image up.

The state-based schemes are wildly inconsistent. NSW and the ACT pay households for all electricity generated by the solar panels - not just the power fed back into the grid.Rates vary from 20c/kWh to 60c/kWh while the expiry of the payments to households ranges from 2016 to 2032.

But that's non existent anymore?

I read, NSW was now on a tarrif system, where its up to your supplier to pay you for the power you feed in. Which Is kinda how it should work.

At a reduced rate to what you pay them.... thats questionable, I mean, you are using their infastructure.

I cant seem to find any solid info.

And the power companies want to charge ridiculous amounts to supply and install their systems! Farout! its like 2x the cost on an independant. But it's at 2 years "interest free"

That article is old, and those schemes are non existent, for the reasons stated in said article. The point is, they done goofed up. Got their numbers wrong, and ruined what I even thought was a great idea. Also, there was no subsidy for businesses,

I cant seem to find any solid info.

It's almost like the government is hiding just how big of a fuckup it was/is!

Because its rubbish.

They are only supplied and serviced through Bunnings and you cannot buy parts anywhere else.

Think where the government gets their money from.

Correct.

Think what happens when they give out more money than they can afford to the people supplying it.

Correct.

The scheme should have been an installation incentive, not an ongoing rate. If I could get solar installed out my house with a 50% subsidy, I'd do it.

They had wide spread issues with so many people in the same area taking up the offer, that the power that is being supplied back into the grid was loading it so much that it became dangerous.

It's about the same level of stupidity as the insulation crap.

You are literally giving me a headache with how boring this conversation is..

You have literally just had a bitch'n'a'moan without changing the situation or course of conversation.

You are invalid. You could have done something great, but like Natanui, you missed.

I did notice that, actually. Seems like a stupid move. Maybe it isn't. I dunno.

They are much more widely available in the US.
