Essentially Wayne Swan wants you all to believe that the reason lenders not passing on the entirety of the rate cut is due to their personal greed.

Didn't the banks establish that their borrowing rates are really dictated by our official interest rates and that they are partially at the mercy of overseas lenders etc etc? thought that is why they are distancing themselves from the Reserve banks decisions....

Shaz will go into better detail if you ask him, but global cash rates etc. are dictating our economy more than they have in the past, and the disparity between our rates and what they're borrowing global dollars at is getting worse.

Yeah, over 70% of the funds that banks lend to consumers, is being brought in from overseas markets at the moment. The cost of acquiring funds from the RBA is just not competitive on the worlds financial market. We can borrow funds at 3.75% from the RBA, or we can borrow it at around 2% from China, Europe and USA.
