OEM versions can only be sold with new hardware, most places won't sell it to you and if they do - technically it's illegal.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

Common misconception :D Confirmed with with microsoft, you can purchase it but you will not receive tech support, the dude at microsoft we spoke to said that if the shop you are purchasing it from is being difficult you tell them you are a system builder and have purchased parts from various shops.

Yeah I saw that; and something about a HD clutch for the spazda.

I give up.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Common misconception

Neg. (as discussed on msn but for Dumdum's benefit.)

"Q. The current System Builder license states that I may distribute an operating system license with a "non-peripheral hardware component". What hardware components are considered "non-peripheral"?

A. A non-peripheral hardware component is a hardware component that is considered to be essential to running a computer system, and includes components such as memory, internal devices and drives, mice, keyboards, and power supplies. Examples of components that are not considered essential are external modems, networking devices, cameras, printers, and scanners. "

Basically, needs to be sold with a piece of hardware critical to a computer functioning....ie, practically a new cpu, hard drive, motherboard etc.....

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

Get an investment property at 5% interest.
Rent out for more then mortgage costs.
Profit?!
Dude, you dont understand the position you're in right now. You could be creating wealth something fierce!

After reading this last night, I was intrigued and looked further into it. Crunched some numbers and there's no way in the world I would come out on top. I would be interested to get your idea on how it would work Mr Shazerous.

For eg -

$300,000 property with a $15k deposit = $285,000 loan and about 6% interest (your 5% figure wouldn't hang around for the entire 20(?) years....

Tenants might pay $300 max a week to live in a $300k house?

After rates, maintenance, loan insurance, and all other costs, I wouldn't even cover the interest repayments let alone anything off the mortgage!

I wouldn't be able to use the parents place as a guarantor either as their equity is tied up in a zillion other things...

The plan is just to save now as much as possible. I'm going to start studying now that I know what I want to get into and I've found a course which works around my work schedule. This way we should be able to stay ontop of things and be well on our way to a house deposit within the next few years :)

This line baffles me, but I know nothing of the NSW market.
