Hi,

Seriously mate, call Leigh.

Sales service at Bunbury is great, Ryan has always been good to me, Dad bought the XT from there in '10, but I have to honest and say I will never use the service department ever again - to be fair this stems from before the move to where they are now, but the bridge is well and truly burnt.

I use Leigh exclusively, he just fixed member SublimeFoz's gearbag last week.

Couldn't recommend anyone else down here, I'm afraid.

Cheers,
Nik

I would listen to the advice already given:
  • Scan for codes
  • Take it to the bloke Nik suggested

Having said that, from what you describe it sounds like a sticky solenoid.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

G'day Jas, how goes it mate?

Dimeb4g, What's your real name anyway? RX25SE (above) is a fair dinkum mechanic, so there you go, he's confirmed what we've suggested. Fingers crossed it doesn't do anything catastrophic before you get the repairer.

I'm Jon, will get around to doing an intro or a re intro... Gotta get some decent pics...

I'm off to have a scan today at 1pm... So we'll see what we get... I spoke to a guy in Perth at west coast autos, was great to deal with and said he knows the issue, and in his opinion it was an issue that Subaru should have sorted out for people... As an o ring is undersized and bypass's pressure until it has warmed up and expanded... Much better than one joker in town here telling me that it's normal operation and that I shoulda bought a Holden and if I did have problems more places would be able to help me better!! Wtf!!! Lol

Hi,

Sounds like Funbury to me, mate. Unfortunately. Odd considering there's what, three R35's in town now? Every second zorst'd car is a 'Rex as well!

Also, don't forget MDSC is coming up mate! Sept.21-23rd at my joint!

Cheers,
Nik

ive seen countless wrx, r34's and the odd r35 and i've regularly seen a db9, twice seen a red 458 italia and a bloody 599!!!! so there is some money here... but those people would take their machines to perth without fail....
its such a small minded place for somewhere that is growing so rapidly!! but your gunna get that when the people who are in business here have been dealing with commonwhore drivers.. and simple folk!

if i am over the expense of what looms i might just have to book some time off and bring the b4 down...

Hi,

I know the guy with the 458, nice bloke. Has some other astounding cars. He definitely gets everything (except his subie, which Leigh does...) serviced in Perth.

You don't even need to be in a Subaru to enjoy the weekend with like minded people, mate!

Cheers,
Nik

Hi,

Not a huge amount of driving needs to be done in our own cars.... :)

Anyway. I'll ask him tomorrow when I see him. Let you know, but he's generally a private guy when it comes to his car collection.

Dude at Aravina seems to always be down, you know he's got an SLR5000 in there right now? Ace!

Cheers,
Nik

id be more happy to shoot a McLaren SLR as oposed to a torana lol...

would purely be for my portfolio and for him to have some pro images... one of my old customers from back in Cairns has a m3 CSL ( e39 i think) a challenge stradale and a brand spanking Merc SLS!! next time i go back i am leaving the clubs behind in place of the studio equipment!!

update!

went for the scan, not a single code shown... so putting it down to mechanical issue...

spoke to a wrecker in perth, quoted me $880 for a box from a legacy rsk half cut.. and $440 to fit... sounds reasonable to me... those in the know please shout out... and Nik i will also speak to Leigh when het gets back from leave... i'll be down there for the BD Times and AMR Times about then anyhow... so will pop in and see him...

i put some of that Nulon gear box stuff in at a pinch to see if it does anything... the wrecker i spoke to (Mick @ Japline) said he would just drive it till it died.. and followed that up with, well i shouldnt say that cause i wanna sell you a box haha... all tongue in cheek ofcourse...

unless the power light flashes you wont have any faults logged....

of memory there are 12 or 14 solenoid's which allow to change gears if one is faulty it will log a code...i'd say you have clutch issues or the main pump...i have a complete auto 03 gearbox which suffered a pump shaft brake from the accident it was in. The shaft alone was from subaru $900, and was quoted $700 to swap the old box out and second hand in...but this was about 5 years ago...

you will prob need to take it to a auto shop, and before people say have it tricked up to handle more power, this isnt possible as there is no room in the B4 auto box for extra shims etc etc i went down this path when i was having mine sorted...

At the end i spent $1500 on a second hand box and $700 to have it swapped over and serviced as i was sick of looking at the car not moving...

Wish you all the best and hope not a $$$$ fix

My advice would be to have this dignosed correctly before spending any money.

I have seen new transmissions fitted when the fault was a $50 switch.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
