Hey everyone, names Callum and here is my Gen 3 :D

I've been lurking around the forums for a while, but haven't really done much to my car and have barely have any photos to support, but i guess i have enough now to make some sort of thread haha

So here we go...

It's a 2000 Gen 3 2.5 RX Manual purchased through family friends very cheap. It came with 138,000 K's, full Subaru service history and a Christian Rock CD in the CD Player.

Exterior:

  • Good Clean
  • De-Orange Indicators
  • Clear Side Indicators
  • Gen 3 B4 17" Wheels
  • BBS Centre Caps
  • Subaru Decal Valve Caps
  • Osram + Something (50's i think) Globes
  • Corozon S304 S/S Rear Muffler
  • Power Steering Cooler
  • Bilstiens (from a B4) w/ standard B4 Springs
  • Whiteline ALK with standard bushes (yellow ones)
  • B4 Rear Sway Bar w/ Super Pro Bushes
  • Whiteline Heavy Duty Alloy Front Sway Bar Links
  • Whiteline Front Sway Bar Bushes (standard 21mm)
  • Whiteline Rear Diff & Outrigger Bushes
  • Whiteline Steering Rack Bushes

Interior:

  • Warm White 48 LED Interior Light
  • LED Map Lights
  • LED Visor Lights
  • Pioneer H/U with iPod Support
  • Response Precision 4X 100W RMS Amp. OEM Splits Amped. Bridged Rear Channels for Sub
  • 12" Jaycar Paper Cone Woofer in a Sealed Audio Line Box. Sounds a lot better than you would think!

This is the beast when i first got her.

Old Intake For Street Credzz

She has been a good car and I'm very happy with the purcahse.

As for future mods... Upgraded Stereo, nothing to special. Lowered/ replaced shocks because OEM's are old and poo and looking for some Gen 1 Liberty Headers for maaad street cred :)

I'll also get an exhaust clip up for other members looking to replace/upgrade their zorsts.

Nice muffler.
Do you have borla replica headers on the car? That's what'll make it sound like a real subaru.

+1 for removal of the bumper protection strips.

Cheers guys! I will try and get a sound clip up over weekend :)

Just got OEM headers on at the moment, from idle (700-800 rpm) to about 2.5/3k there is a little bit of Subaru burble, but above that, im guessing it just sounds like a normal 4 banger with a loud exhaust (cant tell from inside cabin). Looking for some Gen 1 headers for OEM looks for insurance haha So if anyone has any in Vic let me know!

A few people have made the same comment regarding removal of the black strips. Is it just a simple heat gun to soften glue/tape and they should peel off? Since the weather is going to be poo this weekend, i might give it a go :D

I am also looking to buy a grill like FR34KO's. I believe its the RFRB grill? When funds permit haha

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Those strips will just peel off with a bit of heat.

You won't get gen 1 headers on there without some re-fabrication work, in which case you might as well get some customer headers made up, or just search for "subaru headers" on ebay. You'll find NA suitable headers on there for under $400.
Once you've got those on, you'll realise how muffled the boxer sound has been muffled by the OEM headers.

Thought so, thanks Morgan, shall give it a shot over the weekend.

I thought all they needed was to be extended like 2 inches? Because insurance is in my dads name, i am limited to what i can and cant do to the car :( So i was thinking that using Gen 1 headers will at least look OEM and not too sus, and they are cheap haha

I have a couple WRX's that live around my area and everytime they give it some WOT up my street i get soo pumped to get some UEL's for mine haha

Replacing the headers won't effect your insurance, given that headers are are part of the exhaust, they can be replaced at any stage and don't have to be OEM. It's not really classified as a modification or performance upgrade, given that you might only gain 1-2kw.

Well if this is the case, that might be my next item to save for haha

Just bought a set of billies from another member from SubyClub so that has cleared out most of my 'mods' fund for now. Damn 1st year wages :(

Thanks for the feedback SUBARU :D

Since it was the only time today it wasn't raining and windy outside, i thought id give removing those rear bumper strips a go. Wasn't the funnest job... The strips themselves come of fairly easily, but the double sided tape that had been used to stick them on was a s.o.b to get off without scratching/ marking paint!

So it took me a couple hours to get all the adhesive completely removed, but looks a lot better, thanks for the suggestion everyone.

Nice job with the removal of the black bits and nice score withthe billies. You'll love them.

If you're tackling the billies install yourself, I've got a nice DIY on here on that exact subject.

I have already read it and prepared myself haha ;)

Yeah i know, but i kinda want to keep it for towing trailers etc. for going camping and stuff. For now I'm going to remove the trailer plug from it because it scraps of steep driveways and move it to a boot one.
