I paid 111.9/ltr (incl. shopper docket 4C/ltr off) for regular 91 @ Shell today. LOL at anyone who recently purchased a Holden for the 99C fuel cap :P That could become useless soon! That and its a silly reason to buy a car because you can save more money elsewhere....

I think the most I've paid was around $1.80, still waiting for the sub $1 prices. What it was when I first started driving. As of next week I'll only be spending $15 a week in fuel. Rather than the 60-70 at the moment. Crotch rocket ftw.

:D I hope this cheap fuel lasts for a little while longer, but the oil companies have already said they will lower production to stabalise the prices :( means petrol will become more expensive again.

Pretty much because it would not have reduced prices significantly, if at all, and potentially it could have even raised them! I'm glad its not going ahead.

Its not as dumb as the Rudd Govts GroceryWatch though. What a waste of tax payers dollars....

How did they reason it would raise prices? I think its a good thing, I can punch in my postcode while at work and decide exactly which petrol stations to stop at or avoid on my drive home. Even saving 5c/litre would be enough to make the big petrol stations lower their prices I think.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

I can't remember the exact reason. You'd have to search for that. But I DO remember that reports were leaked from within the Labor govt showing how it would actually cost motorists.

And in terms of finding the cheapest fuel in your area - the Shell website shows the price of every fuel station they have from 11AM daily. Obviously, you only need look at the suburbs you know you'll be driving through and then you fill up at the cheapest. Very helpful indeed.

Fuelwatch covers every brand of petrol station (bp/shell/caltex and independents) and every brand of fuel/gas/diesel etc. AND they'll email you a list of fuel prices in each suburb along my drive home, for free! meh, i like it but just my opinion :)

You should try using United/Peak 98 exclusively for a few tanks, I'm getting between 40 & 50kl more to each tank with no changes to the car or my driving, seems to have more grunt, usually the cheapest & if you shop at IGA & spend $25 you save a further 4c, I'm now getting 600K's per tank instead of 550-560 over the previous 3yrs on BP 98.........Brilliant stuff & comes from overseas.

I've got a 'Liberty' independent petrol station (how appropriate) around the corner from me that sells the Peak98 but i've always been a bit wary of it.

Might give it a try, thanks.

Trust me, I'd never use BP again unless I was desperate, I was wary too & religiously used BP until it got to the stage where it was about 10-15cpl more expensive so I'd stick United in every now & then, then I did a trip south on purely United & did 632kl for 56.5L, I haven't looked back since.

Breathing new life on an old thread... I paid $1.16/L for Shell 91 octane today. Minus 4c/L (shopper docket) and that makes it $1.12/L. This petrol price war is really something, hey! Wish I'd been driving more, haha...

Hi, The frightening part of this thread, is the excitement around 91ron fuel at over $1/L. Look at the dollar right now. Look at local stability. Now, explain why the price of petrol is sofa king ridiculous. ? Cheers, Nik
