Thought i would start a bit of a thread on the build of my Focus. Traded the GT-B as it just wasn't as fun as the older Subaru's and i wanted to try out something from the other side of the world, as short lived the GT-B was!

Factory specs are pretty wild out of the box. Has a Volvo sourced 2.5L 5 Cylinder Duratec unit rated at 166kw and 320nm. Attached to the engine is a cool thing called a "symponiser" which comes off the cold side intercooler piping and runs up and into the fire wall giving in-cabin actual engine acoustics which sounds really gruff. The stock exhaust is very burbley and has an awsome warble which sounds like a rally car when the revs drop.

From my experience so far the thing hauls arse ( literally ) for a front driver and handles like its on rails. Alot of fun to drive and i look forward to getting it on the track for a blast!

Mods so far are sprucing up the outside and ditching the bogan XR5 badges and replacing with Euro spec ST ( proper ) badging.

Planned mods are : CAI, CB Zorst, Tinted rear tail-lights and reflectors, RS wing ( maybe $$$ ) , repainted front grille and air dam in gloss black, RS style rear diffyoozer, repaint rims charcoal and DS tune.

Heres some pics.

I wouldn't call those specs particularly crazy. Especially when an "out of the box" WRX has 195kw and 343nm and will smoke an XR5, oops, ST, all day every day.

Not dissing your new ride as it looks like a nice car, just saying and keeping a Subaru aspect to the forum.

Love the ST. I reckon it would be heaps of fun to drive. Cars are all much or a muchness :) There is more at play with a cars performance than just raw power.

My NA straight 6 1989 BMW is faster then that.

Umm..its not really comparing apples with apples. Stock for stock, his car would kill an 1989 E30 95kw auto.

Looking good Jimbo.

Did you ever see Shane's old XR5? His white one? That looked Posted Image'ing awesome with the black spoiler, and black wheels.

Maybe some darker tint? Hehehe.

Cheers,
Shazza

I was thinking about tinting the rear taillights and reflectors ect Shazza, easy job?

Its funny how everyone thinks the performance is dismal. Ever driven one? Obviously not.

I was skeptical at the figures and ummd and aaad. Then i drove one.

Oh and "Subaru" or whoever you are, man, really? Im still here because of the great community and people i have met and still slap hands with today. How naive are you? Pull your head in mate.

Hey man I'd go VHT NiteShades for the taillights. Spray on a few coats, depending how dark you want. Tint is way too difficult to shrink. I think Shane had the RS rear spoiler on his old one, and it looked the tits.

Yeah Shane had the RS spoiler, however i am not sure how it would look on my car. Maybe once the wheels are black it may look better. I don't think the silver colour would be as forgiving to mods like that.

This one lives about 4 houses away from me :

Nice attitude and language.
I happen to like the XR5 and never said anything negative against you, or your car.

So, how about you pull your head in?
