Holy shit. Just about exploded my radio. Asylum seekers are now looking to charge Australia with human rights violations because we didn't have enough food on board the navy ship that saved them from certain death to feed them all, and there wasn't enough medical supplies to treat them all...

... fuckmedead. Seriously. FUCKMEDEAD.

violations against human rights, its not our fault they come here in shitty wooden dingys

Morning ams. Whats your plans for the day?

We've just put into production (the work I was doing last night) a new Citrix farm for one of our big hospitals here in Perth. This morning I'll be sitting around waiting for people at the hospital to do some testing.

Then, go for a drive in the rex....somewhere.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

Sounds alright. I'm gonna finish work, wash the car then take the girl to a steakhouse for dinner.

Exactly. Also, what are we meant to do? Drive around the ocean picking up strays, and then feeding them and giving them free medical attention? 600 in a week. Six hundred in one week. Howard might have seemed harsh to international communities but at least it fuckin' worked.

If they keep up at this rate we'll be dealing with over thirty thousand a year.

We should put them all to farm work, straight away. Get them working on arable land in the more remote parts of the country to ensure food supply into the future. If you're going to fuckin' just let them in, at least make them do something. We make people work for the fuckin' dole for christ's sake.

Yeah, I posted it a week or so ago. :)

Just for comparison The UK gets about 30,000 immigrants (most illegal) every week. When I say almost, I don't know the actual figure, but I know it's a shitload and probably not far off that figure.

Also I'm pretty sure most true asylum seekers would relish being put to work straight away, doing a job and being able to live in a community, rather than being shacked up in a detention centre.

Whoa GTR whooped that ML merc.

Sig worthy.

@Brett: Asylum seeker does not equal an immigrant. The UK has accepted around 140,000 over the last decade. We're on track for 300,000. Illegal immigration is a different kettle of fish, and we're lucky to not be as land locked as much of the UK is. Do illegals in the UK get papers (serious question) and pay tax, work on the books, etc? Or do they have to live under the radar?

Don't get me started....

Not immigrants. Immigrants are different to asylum seekers! The UK probably takes more immigrants than the US!

"A more meaningful statistic provided in the UNHCR report is that in 2009, out of 377,200 people who sought asylum throughout the industrialised world, only 6170 did so in Australia. For anyone still fixated on percentages, that’s a mere 1.6 per cent.
"
This is a figure from a few years ago, but I'm pretty sure it's still relavent.

You can proportionate those figures with populations of the destination country.

One other thing that really seems to be forgotten, is we are not land locked. These people aren't walking here. We are spending billions of dollars to have already stressed vessels 'patrolling' the entire coast line of Australia.

In 2010, the largest number of asylum claims for an industrialised country was experienced by the USA with 55 500 claims, closely followed by France with 47 800, Germany 41 300 and Canada with 23 200 claims. In comparison, a relatively small number—8 250 claims—were lodged in Australia in 2010
