Who knows what's possible, but I think it is safe to say that you probably don't.
If he gets bored with the power I will suggest that he goes to one of the sydney tuners that specialise in NA performance as they will have a better idea of where the limits are.

And if that isn't enough I have routed all the wiring for the Vipec specifically so that is away from any turbo(s) fitted.

You need to go and do some sh!t to your car, you spend too much time on here being bitter. ;)

I have been doing stuff to my car. Though not many are interested in Holdents on here... ;).
The only reason I'm a skeptic is because, when I look at what other NA 3ltr engines are capable of, I find very hard to beleive that the Subaru variant will be much different.

What power do BMW inline 3L engines produce stock?
I would have thought this would be a direct comparison to the EZ. Both are very modern engines.
:)
Tristan like I said before, and showed with the link to the OZLiberty thread showing that Gen4's results, you should get around 150-160ATW. They did have the benefit of seeing the factory figures with the Gen4 and then tuned it a bit harder with the ECUTek. If the tune you get next is a tad more aggressive then you'll see that.
But in all honesty, if you have a safe tune, and it's producing those figures now, why bother changing it.
You are happy, right?
As Tony Montana would say:
In this country, you gotta make the money first.
Then when you get the money, you get the power.
Then when you get the power, then you get the women.

I agree with Frankles here. As long as its safe now, leave it. Enjoy the monstrosity that is your car.
Don't look at the Gen4's for now. You'll be smoking them as is!

Well thats a good point. I don't know what they make though.

I don't so much think the EZ can't make more power. I just don't think it'll be all that much more than standard.
That said, the standard power level is about par with an early EJ20-t anyway isn't it?

More power then an ADM WRX up until the MY09 update which gave the WRX a power increase to 195KW

So even still. It's going to be about the same at the wheels anyway?

depends on how much power was lost from the 169Kw at the engine by the time it hit the wheels :D (for the WRX)

well my 140atw should equate to between 190 and 200 kw at the fly should it not...?

its waaaaaay more complicated than that. completely different vehicles. STI's are BUILT that way, hence they are designed for it... all i am saying is you need to cover yourself incase of an accident. even if someone runs into you and they go to checkout the vehicles and say whats this different engine etc etc...

Oh mate I'm not talking about insurance, just wrote that top bit, the whole engine weight, car size/weight was about whether the engine was too heavy for the car. Yeah I should know STi's are built for it, doesn't make the insurance any cheaper :(

If thy tint is dark and thy wheels are black thou car be declared b11tchin'

So you can run it on 6psi with an rx fuel pump? :P

It's not that they're built for it, its just that, thats how they're built. They're ADR aproved from the factory. Tristans is not.

Many many years ago when my MY01 WRX was new and stock, it put down a total of 110kw atw on APC's Dyno Dynamics.

The bugeye's were the slowest of the bunch, the 03-05 wrx's make around 125kw atw and the 2.5s ever so slightly more.

Tristan whats with the dyno chart, did they give it throttle after 4100rpm or does it just produce not much power before that?

Assuming about 22% loss through the drivetrain, about 178.5kw at the fly...

Probably where the big cams come on...

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

AVCS actually....

Can you control the cams at all, or is more like an On/Off affair?

it's not the avcs... that's what pulls the timing forward to make moar powah!

the big jump, which is subaru's version of vtak is called AVLS (active valve lift system [http://en.wikipedia....ve_Lift_System])

and yes, it doesn't make much power below 4000rpm (though 70kw atw is still alright for general putting around)... but it also doesn't use much fuel... that is the whole point of avls...

and poop, it's an on off thing... the only way to make it gradual is to flutter the solenoid which mark (the tuner) wasn't keen to do...

Fail call, I've only ever called it ACVS. Can you have it run the large cam all the time? I realise it'd idle like a dog, and use fuel. I'm just interested.

the AVCS is variable, there's a cam timing map for that. The lift actuation isn't variable. Playing with the AVCS around the lift actuation point will help smooth it out, but will take quite a bit of dyno time ($$$)

Here's an example of an AVCS map from a V88 Vipec:
