Hello people,

just got the Legacy a major service, changed lots of fluids but I havent had the air filter changed. The car has had the same Subaru air filter since I bought the car, and it may have been the same all its life (looks reasonably clean). The car had just hit 80,000km. How often do you change the air filter? Also, which wrx one will fit the bh, the GD one?

Thanks

Will

Not sure which ones fit which but I changed mine on Friday night just gone and that was about 12 months after the last change (~25,000kms).

Old one wasn't too dirty but it's good to keep it all clean.

Matt does his every 5000kms :P

Yeah I do mine every couple of services or so. In between i just get the blower on it and get as much of the dirt, dust and crap out as I can

I thought most Subaru's share the same filter (liberty bc/bf bg/bg be/bh impreza gc/gf gd/gg forester sf sg)?

Got a Ryco one.

They're all the same AFAIK?

Ryco ones are the way to go, i stupuidly bought a k&n one as they were listed on the website with their own part number (so hence i thought that they were special) then upon further investigation... Ryco ones are like $7.50... for that price Matt you hit the nail on the head

Hi guys. Can anyone confirm that my my02 b4 has an ej208 engine and uses a ryco a360 air filter?
I have a k&n panel but wondering if it's better to go back to stock.

The k&n is drying outside while I'm driving around with the paper ryco filter.

I know the MRT site says no gains but anyone have more info about OEM filter vs k&n panel?

I know I have to be careful not to over oil it.

Don't use the K&N.

It will coat your AF sensor in oil.

It's an air filter.

If it's clean, it will work.

My motor would have over 150000km on it now.

I haven't sucked in a piece of engine exploding dust yet with a paper filter :)

I think the stock airbox on the B4s account for 2% of the restrictions in the stock inlet. Leave it stock. Anything else is inviting problems, or reducing your flows.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.
