AFAIK it works as a vent rather than a scoop

Thats weird looking..... I suppose it would suck warm air out ofthe engine bay.

It would vent. sort of. Your intercooler wouldn't benefit much.

Front mount stylez?

Well, if you had a front mount, I don't think that scoop would work any better at venting the engine bay temps then if it were forward facing.

This guy was obviously too awesome for forward facing vents.

I've seen some video of a classic impreza STI RA (not 100% on what its called) and it came like that stock

Makes sense I guess, encourage the hot air to escape up and out as you drive along with a front mount.

Aparantly it helps air flow through the engine bay with a fmic

Yeah, never mind the huge engine that's in the way...

OMG thats ugly!!! Looks so odd lol

Itd work well if you drove in reverse all the time?

Trying to remember back to 2nd year fluids but i think the faster(low pressure) moving air over the bonnet/vent will 'suck' the slower (higher pressure) air out of engine bay, like a pitot tube, removing hot air.
Car will require a front mount or water to air intercooler (dont think these need a scoop?) instead of top mount for adequate cooling.

I'd be pretty inclined to believe it'd make a good difference.
engine in the way? so what, air is held up by little to nothing :)
I'd think it'd remove air from behind the FMIC more effectively, and allow air rushing in from the front some more room to move through :)

It would work like a chimney at best. You're not going to get a sudden rush of air escaping from the engine bay.

Yeah they do, but you need a much bigger vent closer to the front of the car as you need a good flow through it

Those scopps struggle to move air when faced the correct way so itd do a whole lot of not much at all that way

Lifting the rear of the bonnet would help a whole lot more (only if running a fmic!!, dont do this with a tmic as it screws up the air movement through the core)
