im currently running syntraxx 75/90 plus g70 nulon in my gearbox of my 92 liberty rs, have found that the synchros may be starting to go and lots of friends have recommended redline oil to help.

should i go superlight or lightweight ? 75/90 or 75/140?

im leaning towards the lightweight rather then the superlight.

Redline lightweight shockproof is fantastic. I use it in my cars and constantly use it in customers cars that are complaining about notchy gearboxes and noisy diffs and they love it.

It's a little expensive. But, No oil compares to it. Only downside is it's the only oil you will be able to use in the box in future.

The cheapest I've seen it is on ebay: http://www.ebay.com....#ht_1466wt_1163

Highly recommend it, Give it a go. :)

Ive heard you may need to flush it before changing it?

Ive seen lots of horror stories of gummed up gearboxes etc

NEO is the bomb diggidy! I wont use anything else now

Ran it before the RA gearset went in my old case and nothing was "gummed" up :)

I've never flushed either, Just taken drain plug out and let it sit for a while.

Neo oil is also good.

so you guys would go to the light rather then the superlight?

that ebay pricing seems to be similar to http://www.performan...20pricelist.htm but he sells in the larger quantity by the looks.

it doesnt cooperate well with other oils requiring some thorough flushing if you want to change.

ahh cool, if i change i will get the old oil flushed before i put it in,

i guess just draining the old oil wouldnt suffice and maybe a atf cleaner or similar is needed?

just emailed michael and he recommended the lightweight over the NEO RPS 75W90HD

now im confused lol.

how does the NEO RPS 75W90HD go on slightly worn synchros, does it help.

im moreso wanting to try neo as i havent heard any negatives about gabox gumming from neo users.

just had a thought, the issue has only really presented itself when i changed from an old worn droplink setup at the rear to a new clink setup.

perhaps the gb mounts are worn and that could be the noise im hearing , ill pop my head under soon or get the mech to see when i get the turbo installed.

what are the symptoms of a work gearbox mount?

I've heard by a reputable Subaru gearbox specialist to explicitly avoid using the redline stuff, as it gums up over time (50k kms springs to mind), blocks the oil galleries, and starves the gears and bearings of oil.

Matt & Scott - where did you score your neo from? Im still running Nulon from the initial conversion, and I'd like to upgrade the oil now :)
