I agree. But on the other hand, my family is invaluable.

You're not deserting them.

How did they handle your sis moving away?

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

In her mind it was her 'escaping' the dynamic that exists, but she never lived down here, and never worked here. She wants me to move to Melbourne. She doesn't understand that I don't feel 'trapped' here - I just don't. I get to make beer, spirits, liqueurs, I chopped down a tree today - I just cannot think of anything I'd RATHER do, not anything else I CAN do. I could do anything, I'm a fuckin' boss.

How is your dynamic, Morgan? It would be kind of similar. Living on the same property - but then throw working together into the equation.

You have the luxury of choice, to do what you want. I agree - I couldn't think of a better "job" than what you do but at the end of the day i'm a reasonably independent person.

Even though i'm less than 5 min drive from my dads place, I LIKE being 5 min drive from my dads place..

I've always wanted to chop down a tree.

Is this code for masturbation?

Also, this was dinner. Yep those chips are as crunchy and tasty as they look.

It's not about distance or disliking parents it's about being able to do your own thing and being an independent doodle.

Hahaha blardy emerikans!

Tough situation, Nik! Aren't you planning on building eventually? Won't your parents have to find someone to do the a/h stuff then?

Living in the chalet would be fucken nice by the looks of it. But, it's also nice to not be working 24/7. To be able to switch off!

Wow, my dad said they had to "black out" with hand tools, as there was no water available! Helicopters were water bombing.

They were out west of Yerrandrie. At colong swamp.

It was very strange at the start. I moved all my stuff from one side of the house to the other which kinda felt like I never moved at all...

It's hard to leave and cleave when you don't actually leave!

What I found though, is that I didn't see my folks/sister every day (they are fantastic with privacy and boundaries) and I was actually wanting to jump across the laundry and say hi and have a chat.

'Working' on this property is a little different to yours though! No one is getting paid for it ;) I love being out in the yard doing stuff but I'm not always around to lend a hand. I reckon in the four years we've lived here, I've mowed twice. Shame. I used to mow every second week at our old joint! However, now im older, I'm able to help with other things like fence building, paving, concreting, etc

Honestly though, we can't wait to rock our own digs. Moving wont affect my relationship with my family in a neg way. We plan to live locally though. It's that extra little push of independence :)

Cheers doodles. I think I'm going to give it a crack for a few months, as a trial. If I still feel the need to go further, I can. It's only a quick decision to make, compared to actually finding somewhere to go.

I've scaled the house back to basic, and just want to have an investment property.

Getting our own place was the best thing we ever did.

I got along with my family, and had it pretty damn good.

But having your own joint to do shit on is awesome!

sounds like a good decision Nik, hopefully it works out. investment property isnt a bad idea either.

My plan was to move out of home this year, and even possibly interstate, but ive had a few potential job opportunities in newcastle come up, and with my Grandmother going downhill rapidly, mum is constantly over with her, so sort of decided to just stay living at home for now and help out a bit. Rent/board is cheap, and i get along well with my parents really.

Getting your own place is awesome Nik, but you do live in a very unique situation.

I'd say go for it.

Branch Managers meeting today at 12pm onwards. Food and Beer basically.

Yeah, I hear you. When I moved back home down here, Mum lived in Perth. But last year or so she has moved here full time. Also, Alisha was living with me as well, so we had four people who worked together all day, living together as well.

Not really any "How was your day" conversation left is there? Haha.

"How was your day?"

"You were there the whole time"

So we end up just talking about work. Constantly.
