Apparently; this is adding the toilet flush to it as well (but then there's more plumbing)

The tank size you have chosen for your home is 5,000 litres. You can expect to save 156litres of a possible 246litres of water on an average day with this size tank. The table below shows where the rainwater is being used.

Know your rainfall
PICTON COUNCIL DEPOT is a nearby weather station. The average annual rainfall at PICTON COUNCIL DEPOT is 868.08 mm. 5 years of rainfall data from 2005 to 2009 is used in the calculations

Obviously there needs to be rain :) it's been fricken dry lately. Last year the grass was so thick and long!

How big is a 5000L tank!? Seems like it would take up some space!

You can get those slimline modular metal ones, cheaper than poly, and you can order from all the colourbond colours. Not sure what the size would be, but I'm pretty sure you just tell them what you want and it's custom.

'Bout a grand for the tank.

'Bout 6/700 for the pump.

A filtration unit isn't as pricey as you might think, they're a bit like buying a printer these days, the cartridges are expensive. For a 2 person home I'm not sure how quick you'd use one though, I'd say once every six months budget $150 for a new one. Usually you do it after first rain has come through, as it will drag all the crap off the roof.

If you're just gardening with it though, not much need for a filter.

Yeah, we got about 1200mm over the past twelve months. Helps if you have three large dams, seven water tanks, and a bucket, to catch it all in.

For sure Nik, I remember at one stage they were all looking pretty low, then the next time they were all looking pretty close to full!

I think Sydney on average gets like 1200mm, surprises me that Picton is so much less.

Just looking at the data from home, lowest ever recorded in a year was 814mm, nearly what Picton gets! Average is 1485mm.
haha highest is 3011mm... man that would have been a year of floods for sure.

That data is actually three years out of date, 2012 was under 800! Which is surprising.

Look at us.

Talking about the weather.

hahaha true!

Is that Picton that was under 800 Niko?

Sydney was 1213.6 for 2012... that is odd that Picton gets so much less.

Camden. 779. Their record year since 1972 (Posted Image I must be bored) was 1278.

When I put in Bargo it goes to Camden airport.

Aren't you meant to be at Shazbots picking up your lip!?

Get him to post it :P

Nik, I probably wouldn't bother with substituting mains with tank water.

If we had plans to stay here long, then maybe. But this is a stepping stone house :)

Thanks for the tips though!!!!
