i was talking to my uni lecturer a while ago and he mentioned turbo expansion, wondering if anyone has come across it before or know much about it? the idea behind it is you run a standard turbocharger, cool the pressurised air through an intercooler, then run another turbine after this to de-pressurise the air before it then enters the engine. theoretically you can end up with a cooler and slightly pressurised air charge entering the engine. supposed to be more fuel effiecient and such. thoughts?

How would you decompress air with a compressor?

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

this is a research paper done by lotus, be warned it is long. They used two turbos and intercoolers to see if they could get greater gains.

dunno :P that report was only theoretical, their next objective was to build a test rig, and they did that but i cant find the report for free anywhere. others have done tests, didnt work too well but they concluded that it seemed a good idea but they couldnt get it working properly
