So I've got an Xforce 3" turbo back exhaust and its a little on the loud side. Knew it was a bit load before I bought it but its just to much for my liking. Not to much but enough that it gets to me on long drives.

Now I've got an xforce oval muffler sitting in the shed and it was what I originally was going to us for the exhaust.

My question is, if I use the spare muffler to replace the resonator how much will it actually quieten the exhaust (if at all) and will it restrict the system to much?

Here's a pic of the spare muffler

Cheers for any input,

Ryan.

Will that fit under the car though? Might be easier to just get an exhaust shop to add an additional resonator to the current system, although that may not reduce the volume enough.

Acres!! Jeez haven't seen you on here in a while!

Don't destroy that muffler! Just get an exhaust shop to put another one in.

Don't want to spend cash at the moment and this is a cheap but hopefully good fix

I'll take the muffler :)

If I don't go through with it it's yours Cam.

Sell muffler, pay for exhaust place to weld in another muffler.

After just going through the whole process myself, I can tell you that the best thing to do is buy a custom glass packed 'straight through' Muffler or resonator, and out with the old, in with the new.
Matt's (likenother) Uncle works at/ has connections with? X-force and when I was originally planning my muffler mods, was told to expect around 1 db drop per added resonator. I dropped 6 db with a new muffler alone.
X-force don't have much fiber glass in them (purposefully) 'cos that what the masses want. As long as whatever you chose uses a 'straight through' design, there is NO loss in power at all from a quieter muffler.
I'm about to add another 2 resonators to my newly modified system (91db)...as it's supposed to be 90db and there is a big note at the bottom of my rego inspection paper saying "noise on limit" so I know rego will re-test me on that and I'm not risking it failing on anything.
