Best ADSL2+ plan in Sydney?

Samwise's Photo Samwise 24 Apr 2013

Hey guys,

Trying to help out my Mother-in-law with a new ADSL2+ plan.
I'm used to Cable at my Parents place, so new to this. :P

The toss up so far is between:
- TPG's $60/m Unlimited
- iiNet $69/m 400gb
- Dodo's $50/m Unlimited

Anyone use the provider's listed? Experiences? What are speeds like?

Obviously Dodo's looks better value wise..

But, more after reliability and speeds, then value.

Any other recommendations?
Budget is $70/$80 a month maximum and need a fair bit of data.

Thanks.

TPG who i am with, expect a bit of peak hour congestion (in Perth it does anyway)

iinet will be good quality but more expensive.

Stay away from Dodo.

And yes as above, check out NBN and see if you qualify.

Hi,

Bloody Sydney getting NBN first. What a joke. Work doesn't even commence here on the schedule for another three years.

Cheers,
Nik

Im on TPG in Melbourne. Works fine but if something goes wrong on their end its a bit of a hassle to get it fixed what with the outsourcing. Having unlimited net is the shit though.

Id say iinet would be the best service and quality especially if youre/shes not technically minded

I'm with them also, Just because no one can provide good speeds in Kambah. Why not get cheap unlimited if its the same speed. I've never randomly lost connection with them either.

Never had big problems with them, and if your happy to complain when something is wrong they give you discounts and free months sometimes.

I need a house Northside in Canberra, Fibre to the home in most newly built places. 5-10ms ping, 100Mbps+ down 60Mbps up, yes please.

Our phoneline got water logged or something, called them up and they sorted it within a few days. Easy to deal with from my side.

That's what I've been using. I'm just seeking personal opinions as the internet can't give you experience :P

I believe Tasmania were the first to have got it. also my place (in Sydney) doesnt even have anything. not even the 3 years thing. and by the looks of it all the major cities are on even playing fields with whats completed. they targeted priority areas like Hospitals and rich peoples areas

Judging by the NBN site, I should have the fibre installed in a year. Nice!

I use TPG, on that exact same plan you're looking at as well. I don't deal with them directly, but any time dad calls them up for anything it is dealt with almost immediately and we have never had complaints. The exchange isn't far from us either and I've never experienced downtime, troubles, hassles, etc. The speeds are pretty quick and I'm an active daily user of the Internet whenever I'm at home.

We have been with them for a couple of years now. Hope this helps!

I've had unlimited in Wollongong with TPG for the last 6 months, not a problem yet.

Also have the telstra-wholesale TPG 'off-net' at the parents house in the highlands, sometimes a little slow during peak hours, but apart from that it's been fine.

I have been with TPG for years. They're good.

$60 50gb permonth, adsl2 offnet plan i think. Sometimes I get 1000kb/sec at ozspeedtest.com

When i first signed up, i was on adsl1..New ADSL 2 plans became available and it was great.

edit: my plan is Ultimate DSL2+ 200GB (Off-net)

You should upgrade migoreng. You can pay $60 per month at TPG and get unlimited bandwidth.
