Hey guys just after some feed back on what brand pistons to use in my 2.5 build.
I have heard that cp's are fairly slappy and noisy? Ive been leaning towards either manley, aeris or wisecos.
What are everyones thoughts?

All aftermarket forged pistons are slappy.

Cold starts are terrible :P

the amount of 'slappyness' is dependant on the alloy used to make the pistons.  Generally forged pistons are made from either 4032 (high silicone) or 2618 (low silicone) alloys.

4032 alloy is a high silicone alloy which is much more thermally stable than 2618.  This means 4032 will expand less as it heats up, and therefore the bores can be machined to a tighter tolerance which gives less noise on cold start up.  4032 is 'weaker' than 2618 but is still more than enough for a street car.  2618 is the piston of choice for a full blown race car that spends all day at high rpm.

I had a sr20 with some 2618 pistons and it sounded like a worn out diesel truck for the 1st 10 minutes of running every day.

Do some of your own research about it, but if it was me, i would get a set of mahle 4032 pistons.

Stock pistons are only 'semi-forged'. In many circles, they are considered barely better than standard piston. They will do fine for close to standard power, and extend into approx 200-230kw+ but if you want to play with the big boys, you need the big boy toys to go with it. Standard 207 pistons wont handle 300+ for long if you push it regulary.

Basically it depends purely on how you drive it.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.
