So its been a week or two since an update...

Not much at all has happened to the old girl, after all the effort put in to get it all ready for HVC i (the missus) thought it deserved a break lol

So spark breakdown issues and the fix aside, not much has been done, aside from cleaning up the R180 rear end bit by bit before install...with all new axle seals and rear cover gasket installed on diff....shafts stripped, cleaned and waiting for rebuild....hubs had brake dust covers removed and are waiting to be refurbished asap. Lots of surface rust removed...lots lol

20150604_122954.jpg
20150605_113111.jpg

Had an issue after not starting it for 2 weeks yesterday when after starting, it had a stupid quiet idle...then threw a 1507 (idle fail safe) code at me :o.....and proceeded to idle like shit and fairly high

Pulled the IACV out which i only cleaned a few weeks back and found the flapper gummed up...cleaned it and got it free and she idles like a champ again...took her for a good run to blow the cobwebs out....insert stupid smile here lol

Think i better run the engine atleast weekly to stop anything gumming up!

Also got sick and tired of bumping the cruise stalk that has no use anymore...so tore it out and chucked it in the bin...mucho better!

20150613_100125.jpg

and last but not least, i am finally representing the club...albeit a bit stealthily lol (sorry Aek!)

Awesome progress with this thing. I like the stealth look on that sticker too. It's a nice touch. ;)

Cheers mate!....slow progress as always...but half the fun is the the refurb and building of the car :)

And the stickers actually much more stealthy then the pictures show it to be...as the flash highlights everything

I actually cant see it at all in the garage without a torch lol

That's right man. You've done really well and the cars looks awesome. I dig the stealth look on a lot of cars actually. And you're not wrong in saying you're keeping with the theme but still supporting the club. ;)

Hey Matt, how much did the new front hubs and knuckles set you back? I'm interested in doing something similar to my lib.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it. In process of being stripped and sold off.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon. Scrapped.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. Scrapped.

MY13 BRG, current daily, very nice to drive, small mods to make it even nicer again.

As in the 05 sti ones?

They were $1000...they are second hand, but never used...cost the dude well over $2000 a few years back

You need the alloy rings that move the abs tone rings in more to suit them aswell

6 gun is no longer in business...but lic over in the us does them aswell

The gd ones i got in atm were $195each though...refurbed and fresh bearings

If you want the normal gd wrx hubs in a month or so theyll be up for sale ;)

But if you get the LIC ones, i have the rings and dont need them (no abs ;)) so hit me up

Ok, sounds great. I'll certainly be interested. Pm me before you put them up. Don't really want to miss out on them because I'm sleeping on nights or something.

Are the R160 Axles/CV's the same diameter on the spline? Basically I'm asking will my R160 axles bolt up into these, or will I need to source some R180 CV's to go onto the 160 axles? (If such a product exists)
I suspect they won't, but at this stage I'm looking at moving into R180 gear anyways. Sorry for the questions, just want to make sure I understand what is required before I go bolting them in and things not fitting correctly. If I know beforehand, it means I can arrange the parts before wasting time trying to bolt it all up and things not going to plan.

Cheers,
Ben

Edit: just had a look at the LIC ones, expensive stuff. 2k US for the basic kit. Good bit of gear, but not sure I can justify that one...
