Anyone able to tell me what the biggest wheel tyre combo I could fit under my gen 3 liberty wagon is, hoping for about a 17-18 inch rim with the widest possible tyres.... 255 maybe?

Suspension wise ill probably end up with bc v1 coil overs set so the tyres are just above the guards.

It depends on what you are willing to do to make them fit.

At the moment I've got 18x8.5 +44 with 225/40/18 tyres so they are slightly strecthed, -2 camber up front and -1.5 rear.

With the guards just above the tyres and the rear guards rolled it will only rub the front fender lining if I hit a bump whilst cornering hard.

I'm going to be getting 245/35/18 tyres and get the rear guards pulled and the fronts rolled and pulled.

The sidewall is slightly smaller with this size so it should fit fairly easily.

Hope this helps you out.

Cheers.

As above, depends on width, offset and how low the car is. Could get 235 fairly easy. 255 will be a lot of work.

surely 255's would stress the steering rack somewhat???

why bother? its a na wagon not a racecar. a 255 tyre will do nothing more or give no advantage over a 235.

i also wouldn't run different profile tyres front and rear

Have you put any more thought into squeezing some more power out of the engine. Like strapping on one of those intake fans

Cameron, why do anything? Why be so negative, I'm just asking questions. This is the first subaru I've owned and I'm trying to gather as much info as I can. And it's not going to be na forever.

Why stop at 255? Some Subaru boys are up at 295 or more!

Put 295/35's on it and post photos after you go driving for the first time...

Needs more wheel specs, More guard work plans, More possible wheels and tyre brands.

what do you have to achieve from going a 255 tyre? so much pain for so little gain. not being negative just saying it how it is.

A past member had a set of 18x10 +22 wheels with a 215-40 tyre on his gen3 but had like 6' neg in the rear with pulled, pumped and full roll. The thing was slamed to 2mm off the tyre.

Just to make sure he understands...

Changing the Width of a tyre DOES! affect the rolling diameter!

it is not just a case of changing the Width only changes the width.. it affects the whole lot

Running a different rolling diameter tire front to back or side to side will put extra stress and load on the centre and/or front/read diff

Ultimately causing it to go bang.

read the manual.. it specifically says not to run different tires and only use other tyres such as a spare for short emergency use.

Hahahahaha. Thas farkin gold!!!! Seems you'll fit in nicely here.

The most you will get will be 225 or 235 before needing serious mods like pumped and pulled guards, fender flares, as well as all the suspension to make it work.
