I'm back in a suby I am happy to say - although not quite the model I was hoping for this was just too good to pass up. This is my new daily driver / tow unit.

MY04 Forester X Manual

153,000km

Original owner with all log books

First on the list is clutch, as the car does not move due to the devil DMF setup going bang. Will be replaced with solid flywheel. Anybody had experience with the exedy replacement kit that comes with flywheel? Is quite cheap can get it for $550 with flywheel.

Next is driver window regulator is stuffed, easy cheap fix there though.

Also have my eyes on some XS wheels.

Interior needs good steam clean. Contemplating leaving family stickers on. Thoughts?

Haha nice work! Welcome back :)

Definitely throw those steelies away. Series 2 XT wheels aren't expensive. They look nicer than the XS ones too ;)

What made you get rid of the Polo?

Polo is on permanent wife duty. Swift is going :) If 17's come up at the right price I'll surely go for them.

Have you put any more thought into squeezing some more power out of the engine. Like strapping on one of those intake fans

Looking good man. I'm not a fan of those stick-figure families though. :P

Ha ha, I like this.

The wheels are something that's gotta go as already mentioned. I'm not in the loop when it comes to Foresters but XS rims will definitely be a major upgrade to what is on there now.

Another drivers window stuffed.. u sure it's not the motor? Mine seized up the other week and changed it yesterday.

U can do it without taking the window out providing u have the right tools...

#3 Phillipshead screw bit

murdgRE4x1M3hlkmgWwg4DA.jpg

1/4" drive 7mm socket or small vice grips to hold the screw bit.

Take ur speaker out shine a light into door and locate the 3 screws that hold the motor to the regulator... U may need a mirror 2 see where they are...

The motor should come straight off if not loosen the 6 bolts that hold the regulator...

I replaced the screws with bolts for easier removal in the future if need be

not sure yet, this was only based on speculation from previous owner, going to pull the switch off today and check it.

door trim can probably come off anyway as its filthy.

thanks for the info.

side note: going to have a go at bending the window gussets in today, as the wind noise is quite loud at 100kph...

No worries mate.

Good luck with the gusset... Tried and failed... Its the small corner rubber seal that's letting the air in... I tried heat then clamping it to close the gap but didn't work...

Only way to fix it is replace it with the later sg facelift model gusset

It was a known thing to subaru and had a recall to fix it

It feels too solid to clamp any further... Not malleable enough?
