What are these nuts for?

Hi Guys.

 

Just wondering what these two nuts are for and why one of mine has sprung a leak? It could also be leaking from oil pan gasket, but I haven't had a real close look.

Engine is an NA EJ25 (2003)

But I think all the Subies have them.

Spare oil galleys.

Looks like the oil is coming from higher though, which would be your oil pump crank seal. Hard to tell 100% on my phone though

They come off your oil pump, I myself don't know what they are for. But it does appear to be leaking from there as you would see oil coming from where the timing belt cover meets the oil pump.

 

would it be as easy as undoing it and putting some gasket goo or something and doing it back up?
