Hello,

I'm not too sure which part of the forum this post should belong to so my apologies if i made a mistake.

I've got a problem with my 06 Subaru Impreza.

When i'm driving on the straights or curving/turning ONLY to the left it makes a knocking sound in the rear passenger side. (*Does not happen when i'm turning right.)

This knocking sound occurs as i let off the gas. However if i keep on the gas the knocking sound disappears.

If theres any information i forgot to mention please ask

Thanks

Are you able to get a sound clip of the noise?

My initial thoughts are a dead strut or loose linkages around the swaybar but it seems weird to only have it when you're backing off...

Yeah sure thing i'll try get an audio clip up by tonight for your review.

Yes its only when I'm backing off the gas and only if I'm going straight or turning towards to left.

I've jacked it up and had a look around nothing seems to be broken nor does anything seems to be rubbing.

my initial guess would be a rear bearing. perhaps take it to your mechanic and get them to have a look at it

If the wheel bearing is shot, you should be able to jack up that wheel and try to waggle it around. If it moves around, the bearing is shot.

The noise from a bearing isn't really a knock sound AFAIK... it's more of a woap woap woap woap...

Alright cheers, i'll also have a look at that when i get the time today.

Yeah i'm thinking about taking it to the mechanics this week to get it checked if i don't figure out the problem.

Yep, Morgan sounds like a bad bearing.

I'm interested to know what you find out.

I'm got something similar in my '99 Lib, but when turning right!

Far feels shaky at 90km/h+...

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

I can vouch for this as it's the noise I'm getting at the moment. New wheel hub will be in my hands soon though.

I just tried recording the sound and it came out no good, as all you hear is the exhuast. :(

I'm gonna take it out tomorrow to get it checked. I'll keep you guys posted on what happens.

Is it a loud thud? Metal on metal sound?

Could be worn bush if its klunking
