okay, this is obviously a newby question and since most people here are, safe to say, car experts, I should get a fairly quick straightforward answer.

anyway, to cut a long story short, I am after some new wheels/rims - I currently have a stock sub lib my07 sedan, aside from measuring the length of the rims, what else do I need to pay attention to?

thanks

Hello and welcome.

Main things to look for are wheel size, diameter and offset. I'm not that familiar with the Gen 4's But I think something in a 18x7.5or8.0 and an offset of +48 or less would look pretty tidy.

Main thing is to get what YOU think looks good.

Those will fit with a set of 225/40R18's.

Make sure you buy the hubcentric rings/ultrex wheel nuts to suit.

You may need to roll the rear guards slightly.

18 x 8.5 +44 will require rear guards rolled and max negative camber set of the front camber bolts or they will stick out past the guards.

You will have no lip protection at all with 225's on an 8.5 and a tiny amount of tyre stretch.

Yep. If you plug in your current wheel specs and those of the new wheel then this handy tool will tell you how they will sit.

http://www.jdmconcep...fset-calculator

Your current wheels are probably 18x7 +55

Most of the fitment is about the offset.

8" +35 will sit 3mm further out than the 8.5" +44 for example.

Something around 8" +45 with a 225/40/18 wont require any guard rolling.

so looking at my current wheels they are 215/45zr17..

just to make sure I understand it right the "215" is the width of the tyre (in mm), the "17" is the diameter (in inches), but what does the 45 refer to?

also, when I measure the diameter of the tyres with a tape measure it works out to 18 inches, not 17... Unless I'm missing something obvious..

again, appreciate the help :)

45 is the tyre profile. Its a percentage (i think) for the width of the tyre and refers to how big the sidewall is The 17 refers to the size of the rim its designed for

If you get 17x8 +47 offset or higher with 205/50/17 Tires you'll have the widest rims without rubbing on unrolled fenders no matter how low you are. I did all the headaches in advance. +10 hours of it.

So you don't have to roll fenders.

No but those rims don't come in 5x100 which is what you would need.
