Looks so tough from behind.

The mufflers kind of counter act the reduced departure angle the bumper gave you tho  ;)

Yes they do but the way it is now is actually better than the stock exhaust because I insisted they tuck it right up. Plus there is less clearance at the front than there is at the back (due to the sump guard) and therefore if the front can clear an obstacle, the back can follow.

There's loads of clearance at the back. I've never had the back bottom out. Its the front I'd like to jack up...

Fork I love this car!

Soooooo different.

Top marks Shiv.

How does the Grom go using the steering wheel controls? (answering calls, etc)

@Gaz, the AUX in is available from Subaru - plug and play.

Thanks Jase,

To be honest, I'm underwhelmed with the GROM unit.

To answer a call, you must press the MODE button on the steering wheel to enter a Bluetooth specific mode that is separate to your normal AM/FM/CD modes. You can use the buttons and dial to adjust the volume which is great. But once the call has ended, you must press the MODE button (or corresponding button on the headunit) to return to whatever you were listening too (CD or radio).

Bluetooth audio streaming is not great quality. AUX is good. iPod integration is good.

To be honest, I'm underwhelmed with the GROM unit.

Thanks for that.

I was tossing up getting one of these, but have heard varying reports if they are compatible with the firmware in the McIntosh. I have a feeling your MY08 is different to my MY07.

The two things I needed it to do well was answer calls and stream music via bluetooth.

You have just made up my mind.  :)

Cheers.

This threads been gathering dust. Time for an update...

I got the brakes upgraded from the standard 294mm fronts to the 316mm Spec-B brake package. I went to our resident brake refurb expert Mark, and he supplied, refurbished and colour coded some Spec-B calipers for me. Absolutely A+ work Mark, thank you!

I went for DBA T3's.

In terms of pads, I went with Intima's due to multiple recommendations from Liberty.asn. I wanted pads that could take the high temps from going off-road so went for SR's on the front (they're a high temp track pad) and then regular SS pads on the rear. Also went for HEL braided lines to complete it off.

How good is a brake upgrade! :D Absolutely beautiful pedal feel and whilst they're far from being worn in, they already feel great :) Cannot wait to put these to good use.

I also got Leo from Liberty.asn to paint the insides of the headlights black and insert halo rings. He can probably do this blindfolded, he's done it so many times. Looks pretty good and matches the darker colour of my car.

Apart from all this, there is an auto trans cooler now installed somewhere behind that front bar which I was desperately needing. And I'm hoping to get some new rubber for this car next week before our cruise...

Shiv, I love this car. It just keeps getting better.

Looks like we will be running near identical brakes! (If I ever finish painting my calipers)

Iv'e got T3's for the front and will run black calipers with silver decal.

Have you considered painting the pad backing plate black so it blends in?

To be honest, I wasn't too fussed about how they look, however Mark really has done a terrific job so they're looking much better than expected.

Give me a couple months and they'll look like shit, haha...

Looking good Shiv.

I like how this is at the other end of the spectrum from the majority of us with lowered, road going cars.

Mark really has done a terrific job

That appears to be the only way. :)

The T3 rotors I got off him even have the slots painted black!

Ha ha, I want to paint my grooves and dimples as well. It'll look good and will prevent that rusty build up. I noticed them on his latest brake upgrade post.

Thanks mate, I'd have to say your car is one of my favourite in the club with all the mods you've done to it. Absolutely mint! Good catching up with you and your Mexican friends :)

Mutual admiration, I absolutely fell in love with your car. Love that roof tray. Brilliant colour as well, can spot it from out of space!

Few changes in store for HMAS Outback:

  • DAMD Steering Wheel
  • Hippo Sleek Spoiler add-on
  • Raptor Headers
  • Rear bar being fixed and resprayed

Needs more lift!!

2015. What a lousy year for Project Outback; apart from some new brakes and some blingy headlights, nothing much has happened....and my latest batch of mods are hardly substantial!

I replaced the silver ring around the gear area with the "titanium" coloured one off the Tuned by STi model. I also got a gloss black gear lever to better match the headunit because I've got a mild case of OCD:

Genuine JDM S402 cupholders. Red illumination instead of blue. "Titanium" coloured surround instead silver.

PROVA SI-Drive Cover -- pretty sure this adds 50hp...

Hope everyone's keeping well this x-mas. I haven't seen many of you since HVC, however I'm expecting work to settle down so hoping to get back to attending the monthly meets...
