It's not the drafting experience really, Mark. There's just not many jobs out there ATM.

Manufacturing is forked ATM so competition for jobs is obviously higher. 2 years ago, I could have probably had my own picking of jobs with the experience I have now an probably be able to move into a senior position!

Still gonna check out the ryco job. See what it's like, see if I can get some recognition from prior training.

Yeah only downside to an apprenticeship is thats another 4 years. Which goes quick, but could you have done tafe/uni or anything in that 4years trade related to you that would help you just as much as starting a new trade?

I dunno if im asking the same question or not

Not really. I can learn programs and things like that. But that means in stuck in this shitty place until I finish studying.

Id prefer to learn something new. 2 trades behind me will make it easier to find a job, and hopefully make me more diverse. I'm not worried about the time tbh. Some it once before :P

More fitters jobs down in Jindy than drafting jobs too :P that's kinda where we wanna move.

@B4TT: I had the worst experience ever at Bunnings yesterday. You would have written this cubt up for disciplinary action. One query, is it normal for stocktake to be done during business hours?

Also, do you know what percentage margin they work on with regards to the stocktake, when it comes to small items like nuts/bolts?

On from there, please go to the Sandwich Shop and order a Philly Cheese Steak

OK OK OK OK OK

So, I was given a specific list by my mate who is putting up some new fencing/decking; the list was taken to the trade counter by me and my big swinging dick.

Not really. But I knew exactly what I needed.

"Ooooh, probably not today mate, we're doing stocktake"

n "Maybe if you just show me where the decking timber is kept I can come back and tell you what I need"

"Ooooh, we're all pretty flat out with stocktake, so you'll have to pick it yourself"

-- went outside, the lengths I want are on the top level of the dexion racking. I'm talking I need 15 3m lengths, and 30 2.4m lengths. And they are three metres or more in the air.

I went back inside and said I need a hand getting them down. Met with sighs like I just told their son had been man raped for the SECOND time.

So someone gets someone, who need to get someone else that can operate the forklift; OK! PROGRESS!

Then I showed him my list of what I wanted, he said, and I quote;

"They're all just forking random mate, they don't come in 'sizes' - you'll have to pick through it"

At this perfect juncture of time I noticed an ominous laminated sheet stapled to the end of the stack, upon reading the sheet, it clearly showed how many of each length were within the stack. I pointed this out to the lovely gentlemen, and he said "well pick through and find them then, not my problem"

Couldn't be bothered arguing. Told him to "Don't worry about me mate, I'll be fine, enjoy the rest of your stocktake!" (HUGE SMILE ON MY FACE)

Other workers overheard the whole thing, next time I saw him he was in a black t-shirt and a hi-viz vest.

I mean. Why where a forking uniform that says "How can I help you?" - if you're a *****.

The manager of the timber yard apologised and said "stocktake is just one of those days" - all I said was, "Maybe you should just close if this is what happens every time you do stocktake"

By the end I had 4 people helping, being nice, thrown a 10% discount, which was sizeable on a $1230 order.

But come on.

Stocktake after close like EVERY SINGLE OTHER BUSINESS IN THE WORLD.

this looks like it would be fun to crack your skull open on!
