I've finally got my brakes ready to go on (I think). Few questions though

Just want to double check the standard gen 2 brake lines will work?

I've read about removing dust shields if needs be, is there a particular way to get them off?

My pads were resurfaced to be smooth by cruisin when he painted the calipers, do I need to bed them in again?

Cheers

The dust cover just unbolts, personally I would try and remove the lip of the cover and try and retain some of it. If that's possible I dunno.

Just a couple moderate stops from about 40-50 kph and don't be too hard on them in the first 500kms I think will be fine.

Can't see why the brake lines would be any different, they all seem to use a standard banjo bolt.

4/2 bolted straight onto mine 96.
No need to move dust shields on mine (not sure if mine even have those haha, pic?)
Brakes lines fit fine, and I used the banjo bolt that came with the 4/2 brakes, cannot remember if those are different to the gen2 brakes...

I did this job a few weeks ago, piece of piss mate. Have you cracked your bolts yet? Or soaked them in inox or WD40?

Brake lines are fine, the fronts of the four pots have a locator pin or something. Apart from that the only difference is the size of the head of the bolts.

There are two pieces for the dust shields. A flat piece behind the brake rotor and a right angled piece that are spot welded together around the perimeter. I just removed the right angled piece. I used a mini hacksaw to cut the right angled piece and then just bent it back and forth until the welds eventually snapped (about 20 secs). All the welds broke cleanly except for one which had a slight lip, a minute with the file fixed it right up.

Thanks for the answers guys. Haven't touched the bolts yet. Will give them a soaking before I go pick up some fluid and brake cleaner

Everything on your car currently is compatible to bolt straight on.

The only thing as stated you will need to do is remove the rear dust shields to clear the new 290mm rear rotors.

How did you end up taking the dust shields off?

I bent them back with some pliers. Subaru put them there for a reason so may as well keep some of their function

That was my original plan but I figured I was never going to want to take the four pots off

Its the rear that you need to bend/remove the dust shields. Fronts go on fine
