Hey guys,

Got a Check engine light the other day, checked the code and it's saying its an o2 sensor.

Just wondering if that would be the front or rear o2 sensor that needs replacing?

Car is still good on fuel (10L per 100km on average) but want to swap it out before the hunter valley cruise next month..

Also, is the front one located on my dump, and the rear one like on the cat halfway along my exhaust? (1996 GC8 WRX)

Thanks :)

Hrmm.. can't help ya there. On OBD II's it says either front or back o2 sensor.

Your front o2 is pre cat, yes dump. Rear is further along post cat.

Thanks for the reply WillC.

Turns out I'm a spaz and got over excited and didn't read the entire sentence in my codes guide baha

'32: Oxygen Sensor or Circuit (No. 1, Right Side, On SVX)'        OR        '37: Oxygen Sensor (No. 2, Left Side, On SVX)'

I flashed 32 so i presume that's the one pre cat.. Thanks for the help mate!

Post cat does sfa

Only is an efficiency reading for the cat.

Least it is on n/a cars, probably the Same.
Pre cat is the one that measures the air fuel ratio

just a generic 3-wire unit.
go to www.efi.com.au
find your nearest store and get a plug n play bosch unit with correct length wiring and plugs.

Also worth of note.
o2 sensor can read out of range and throw a CEL due to intake/ exhaust leaks, leaky injectors, dirty/ dodgy MAF

But if it's more than 100,000km old, worth replacing anyway

Thanks for the help mate!

Nearest store is Sydney, ill give them a bell and see if they can send me out one.

Im pretty sure this thing hasn't been changed in years by the look of it but I've only owned the car for a few weeks so hard to say.

I'll replace it anyways, reset my ecu and see if it throws another CEL.
