Gday gentleman,
Have noticed my '99 GTB doesn't have a dash illumination toggle and i'm finding the dash to be really dim. Has anyone got a solution? I think the D-E clusters are totally revised and might be better, however my concern is are the km's stored in the dash or ECU? And what's are the "blackout" clusters, B4?

Fail.
Just found like 11ty threads. LED's seem to be the go to fix the Rev A-C ones. Are the D-E "blackout" clusters plug and play in A-C?

The B4 blackout cluster has a different set of lights and a tinted plastic face...with no lights you cant see sh#* it is different to a non turbo gen 3 but same as an( H6 cluster (so i have been told) my dash lights shat themselves and i put a second hand cluster in.
So to answer another question the klms are stored in the cluster.

Is it a JDM thing or do all Rev A-C not have a toggle switch for the dash illumination? Even my Gen2 had one. Just seems odd...

I think it's a JDM thing to not have illumination toggle. Now that i think about it, my Gen2 GTB didn't have it either.

Nope, my 99 Rev C RSK has blackout guages and illumination control on the rhs stalk.
does the illumination control work?? mine had the stalk as it had the blackout gauge put in afterwards...but it controlled nothing on the dash....was easy to wire in if need be though

Yeah works perfectly. The numbers are too bright on the highest setting so it's always down two clicks.

That's my 2 cents..
Also, isn't the Etune the pov spec version?
I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Nah JDM models around the changeover year did get them. I've seen that on Import Monster....

My Rev A-C RX had illumination dial, but no blackout cluster!
That's my 2 cents..

Difference with E-Tune was comp ratio for more economy but same power, also had a slightly fettled chassis.

My rev b outback has the illumination dial.
The rev b GTB halfcut does not have the dial or the blackout type cluster.

Just want to bump this up, does anyone know how to get the blackout cluster to work in an earlier model? Is it a big messy wiring job?
