I cant see it being required on a Gen2 Outback.

+1

Why not just upgrade your rotors/whole setup? be a lot less stuff around than running ducting.

I wouldn't think you'd get enough airflow at low speeds like that to make a difference? By all means it'd be possible, but I just don't think it'd be worth the effort.
Do you have decent brake fluid as well?
Might be better off upgrading to forester xt brakes or similar which are 294mm

Did they over heat or just heat up? You wont get enough air flow as Grant said at low speeds to warrant the work.

Brake upgrade is far more beneficial with larger rotors and pads. Larger surface area = better heat dissappation.

Definitely sounds like it's time for a brake upgrade to some larger ones haha, either some xt forester brakes, 4 pots or similar

The outback needs more manual, lowrange 2nd and crawl down.

Gen 4 gt brakes would be the best, they have the a 316 mm front rotor which is good for head dispersion.

should really be using your gears more!

Using the gears will keep the car more even also as you wont have the weight transfer to the front so much..

how serious are you into the off road scene?

FYI

I got my brakes a bit too hot.. > 750 DegC but then that was doing 10-15 hot laps on the track at Ambient temp of 44+..

and even then it was only after 10+ Laps that i started to get the fade...

Upgrade to 4pots or even just go to 294mm rotors with B4 / XT calipers..

you probably only have 260mm rotors.. or maybe 277's if you have a 97/98 outback

I've got the full set of Gen IV SpecB brake discs as mentioned by the guys if you're interested. One requires machining, the other three should be fine.

Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

Can you hook a brother up? Please contact me now. I have cash ready.

you'll need some calipers for them to be useful unless of course someone with a spec b buys them that is

Indeed. Unless he already has/wants to source brake calipers.

Minor issue is any brake upgrade will require at least jumping to 16's from the stock Outback 15's. Gen4 GT brakes require minimum 17's.

Pretty happy with my combo of Gen4 GT 290mm rears and XT Forester 294mm fronts. 16's required but these brakes are cheap to obtain.
