fella's the joy of photography in this day an age, is you can just shoot and learn from your mistakes on the fly

its also one of the bug bears of society... well in the pro community anyways... anyone can "be a photographer" just get a mid level dslr and a facebook page, insert name and word photographer or photography and insto presto your a photographer...

but thats an whole nother thread on its own!!

Understand what you are saying dude, I love taking photos but I do so for myself - would never even contemplate calling myself a photographer.

Normally I don't share too many of the pics.

This. I want to get a proper camera and take photos, but for the purpose of having my own photo's and memories.

No plans to sell or share or whatever..

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

I reckon just youtube how to do stuff. Alot of free information online if you want to find it. I bought a photography course of catch of the day for like $99 it was a heap of 10min online videos of a guy explaining what everything means and how to use it.
I should have paid more attention and saved the videos though

+90% of the stuff i take photos of are of cars. But i want to try get some photos if an aurora and stars and shit.

I'd like to upgrade to a 7d or 5d but i dont even use my 600d to its full potential so it would probably be a waste.

Heres my flickr album :)

photography is such a subjective thing... pics i love, people go meh too... and a few of my award winners, have been ones i didnt think were anything special... sure i was happy with it... but not writing home about it...

there is so much free information out there, hell i read, and watch videos every day, even the 55yr old 30 yrs in newspaper only all over the world grumpy old cnut ah i mean other photographer reads ebooks ( i gave him)

you never stop learning, and you learn by doing... many times i do a shoot for a newspaper assignment, and half way through the shoot i say, right, lets do... THIS and it works...

so my moral is... shoot away... try things, you will be a better snapper for that alone...
