Quick question.

Is it possible to disable the dimming feature of the AC control module, so that when the headlights/foggies are on the unit doesn't dim so that it can be read/seen in daylight?

Thanks

Try pressing and holding the off button?

M B4 climate control has a little feature that says BRIGHT under the off button.

This.

Works for the factory radio too........

......but only on Rev D-E IIRC.

If mine has it, yours will. As said above, hold the "off" button while it's on. Hey presto.

Yep. Hold the OFF button for 3 seconds and it will brighten up.

As Jase said, hold the volume dial on the factory stereo and it will also brighten up your day.

Many head units can be connected to the lights so that when they're switched on the HU dims.

Ah true, the head unit isn't overly bright so it doesn't really bother me at night. Only thing which would be nice to brighten up is the lights behind the speedo and what not.

You could look into fitting a defi cluster out of a B4 but I understand it's a bit of a wiring mess. But I usually have to have mine turned down quite low at night because it's so bright!

Are they a common cluster to buy? But then don't I run into the issue of the odometer not matching up to the original ?

may have to give them a call and see what the possibility of one is and how difficult it'd be to adapt it

Most good auto electricians should be able to re-configure the ODO to your current cluster.

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

That would be ideal, its simply a programming thing isn't it? Also do the defi clusters still only read to 180 on the speedo?

Would be able to remove the chip and re code it, but not sure if theres an official way of doing it via the cluster or something. JDM ones only go to 180 unless you get an STi one which go to 240 or get an AUDM one which read to 220

For the LCD type ODO's, I'd guess so.

That depends on if it's AUDM, JDM or USDM.

AUDM goes to 240 or something?

JDM goes to 180

USDM, I'm not sure, but it has km/h and mph

Yeah sounds about right for the speeds. Don't really want a USDM cause then you'd have to get used to reading the km's which would be the smaller numbers on the speedo?

But yeah will have to give both Ichiban a call and an auto electrician and see what can and can't be done and the costs associated with the whole thing.
