new here and keen to start modifying my car, thinking of starting out with new headers and muffler, can someone point me in the right direction where to find headers that will fit my engine?

You need to find out if its dual or single port exhaust for headers. If it's dual port any headers for a na subaru should work

If you look under the car the stock header will look like this. What car do you have?

Same as me. As said if the block is dual port exhaust any header made for an NA subaru will work.

These are the ones i have

As for mufflers an exhaust shop would be the best place to start

If you have the right tools its a DIY job. I had trouble with a rounded nut due too rust and awkward positioning so had to drop the whole exhaust and cut the nut off where the headers bolt to the cat. You get replacement bolts with the new headers so it wasnt an issue. Just something to be mindful of

Ebay is fine. Yep they'll work. Just make sure you have dual port exhaust before buying anything

Probably anywhere between $100 (cheap s/h pickup) - $400 (set of genuine Borla headers)

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

I had these on my Gen2 2.2 with a muffler. Sounded sweet.

Fairly cheap.....

Go to a wrecker find a gen 1 liberty and get the headers of it. Will bolt directly up to it, and are stronger than aftermarket in my experience. Will probably have to either fix or remove heat shields as they tend to rattle.

The gen 1 headers I have are to short to reach the mid pipe. Bit weird

Yep. The gen 1 headers are also super restrictive apparently.

Dunno about that. I get epic fuel economy in comparison to others and for an n/a subaru mine goes fairly well. I can't see them being restrictive as they were made for basically the same engine?
