2001 WRX Misfiring with flashing engine light

Hey guys,

 

I have a 2001 bug eye rex which iv not long acquired. Has a few mods including 3 inch TBE, ekutek with 2 maps and I few other cosmetic changes.

 

I had it serviced before we went on holidays and drove about 3,000kms in it whilst away which was fine. When we got back it started to misfire under boost and just fails to go anywhere if you don't change gears. Runs fine whilst the foot isn't planted, gentle acceleration is fine. orange engine light flashes whilst it misfires.

 

Any IDEAS ? I have read it could be airflow sensor or coil packs / plugs etc .

 

hoping i'm on the right track, haven't had a scan tool plugged into it yet.
